    Great pri

I bought this for my six year old. Didnt want wooden set because they are a pain to put together, bulky and expensive I saw good reviews and decided to buy. My husband and I put it together in about three hrs. Kids helped towards end with putting on bars and clips under mattress area. I think its grea Only drawback is using ladder is socks is slippery and bare feet is pretty uncomfortable. I dont mind that because itll keep the kids from playing on the ladder so much. Def recommen

    Very high quality

Excellent quality for any price. Given the budget price, I figured the frame would be about the same quality as a typical swing/set. And like a typical swing/set, be appropriate only for small (read: lightweight) children. Boy was I wrong. This is extremely dense, heavyweight construction / not the sort of light piping I expected for the price.

They are sturdy and easy to put together

I own two of these now. They are sturdy and easy to put together. Simply dont tighten things in too much so there is some play so certain parts can fit together later in the assembly process. For the prices, its great.

We actually like these so much we got two

We actually like these so much we got two. It did take some time to put together, but so far it has been very sturdy. We have had lots of guests sleep on both the top and bottom (we are all in our 20s) and our cats also love to play on the top (we have 4). In addition, we have used the tops as storage since rubbermaid containers fit on top of them great. The bottom is a perfect height off the ground for more, smaller, storage boxes underneath too if you are short on space. All in all, I highly recommend this if you have the time and patience to put it together initially.

The bed itself is great and my son loves it

The bed itself is great and my son loves it. I did, however, only give a 3 star rating because 2 of the many pieces it arrived in were damaged. One of the pieces the damage was minimal and would not really bother me, but another piece was damaged and a patch of metal about the size of a fifty cent piece is exposed along with some denting. The hassle of re/boxing this product and returning it was not worth it to replace those two parts because of how precise the packing must be to fit it in such a small box. It is frustrating to get a new product and then have to try and figure out how to hide the defects when you are too far in the assembly process to undo all you have already done and try to get it back in the box it came in (which was not going to happen). Like I said, the product is great but there is a definite risk of it showing up damaged because of the weight and dimensions of the shipment itself.

The ladders dont seem to be in the best place either

Took my husband hours to put together, and it seems a little wobbly. The bottom bunk doesnt have a headboard so the pillows fall off the bed. The ladders dont seem to be in the best place either. I guess its ok for the cost. I should have invested in a wooden bunk bed set.

    bed with questionable parts

When I received the box, it was very beaten up. As I assembled the bed with a friends we only had two problems. This first was that we couldnt fit in a screw into the part labeled M and this was at the top of the frame of the bed where the twin mattress is. We tried everything but in the end the piece was just bent and a few people reported this problem as the holes being misaligned but that isnt the case, at least here. Even when we set up the bed on the floor and looked at M something seemed off from the other M frame piece. The instructions were pretty easy to follow you just need to interpret the pictures and double check yourself before moving along. I loved putting together the rods that the mattress lays on for the futon and the bunk bed, because they had tiny plastic anchors that held the rods in place and you just pop those in. The second problem we reached after we had gotten pretty deep into assembly, another bent frame piece but this was much more obvious. At first we were very shocked and tried to make it fit but realized that it was just bent. The part was labelled X and it was supposed to go around another square frame but it was in more of a triangular shape. Being frustrated and intuitive college students, we decided to just try and bend the thing into the most square shape we could. I couldnt tell you how excited I was when I ordered the bed but now that it is assembled I am glad I have it but still annoyed that Im missing a screw and part of the futon I had to attempt to bend back myself. Other than that, I have braved the finished project and sleep on the top bunk at night. Side note: The ladder bars are cold and hard to step on and off each day, probably need to get some type of fabric covering for comfort. It does wobble a bit when I am climbing up and if I shake around in bed, but so far I have slept pretty well. I am 120 pounds and 56 so this is probably less ideal for a person that weighs a bit more or is a bit taller. I also have NOT contacted them about the two parts because I wasnt sure who to contact or how to go about it, so if you have any advice let me know. Although this is not a major issue, it still isnt what I agreed on when I bought the new product. I also attached photos of the final product and the objects in question for future buyers. There is a picture with screws that looks normal because that is the other M piece of the frame.

the issues are it has many parts and it is easy to miss some key items in the directions even .

I bought this not expecting high quality so I got what I expected. Main thing is its a pain in the butt to put together. Ive assembled more frustrating items than this for sure however, the issues are it has many parts and it is easy to miss some key items in the directions even though it is stated to follow the instructions in order etc. I was also missing a part, that I discovered very near the end of assembly ( my fault I should have counted before I started but there are 44 of them, yes thats right 44) and its just not worth it to me to disassemble and ask for a refund or replacement so Ill make do with it. I would seriously consider something else if your looking for something affordable but functional

The price gets five stars, even with minor flaws.

Please be aware that I am giving this five stars because I have searched in stores and online without finding a bunk bed this inexpensive that has the weight capacity of this one. I have a teen and preteen, so a bed with a 100 lb. weight limit is out of the question. This bed has a 200 lb. top bunk weight limit, so that alone makes it five stars for the price. However, there are a few very minor issues, mostly with the paint job, that might irritate someone who expects perfection at even this rock bottom price. For me, they arent enough to deduct points from the product. I did not expect a 1000 bed for 160, so I was fine with the tiny flaws. There are a couple of spots where the paint just didnt cover well, and they look almost rusty. Its not the full/on, metal weakening type, but just bare metal, untreated look. They are near the spots the bed joins, so once everything was together, you dont even see them. The slats apparently rubbed together during shipping, and the paint on them is scuffed; again, its minor, and it looks as though it happened during shipping. The slats were the only thing not individually wrapped, so the rubbing isnt even visible. The bolts do extend from the bed; they arent flush with the metal. However, they are rounded and coated, so I dont see this as a problem, either. They are intended to be that way. One thing that irritated me a little is that one of the slats is bent. That seemed odd, because its the only one and they were together in the box, so it seems like it was that way before shipping. Its not enough to affect the sturdiness of the bed. I put that slat near the head of the bed, so little weight will be on it, just in case. Now for the good parts. This bed is very sturdy, very heavy, and it doesnt squeak or sway. While it is very tedious to assemble, it is simple and the instructions are great. Everything you need is included in the box. The instructions say you need two people to assemble it, and that it takes two hours. I HIGHLY recommend that you get help with this, if you can. I couldnt, and I assembled it alone in about an hour, but it was a pain. One warning: the instructions say not to tighten the bolts until the bed is completely assembled, and I cannot stress this too much. DO NOT TIGHTEN THOSE BOLTS UNTIL THE BED IS COMPLETELY ASSEMBLED. I hand/tightened them, and had to take some out a bit, because I had tightened them too much, just with my hands. Update: I bought this in September 2015. In May 2018, its still strong and sturdy, though squeaky. It has been a great value for me.
