It seems to be a fine air mover but I have to agree with those who say the fan is too loud even at its lowest setting. Its labeled max performance high velocity and they actually mean that (one never knows does one). FYI.
I think this fan is well built and works nicely, but I would warn potential buyers that even the lowest setting on this fan is very powerful, and the highest setting is incredibly powerful.
Depending on what you want to use it for, this might sound great, but I bought this fan to place in front of my stationary bike setup and the lowest setting is too strong. I had to place the fan a good 12 feet away in the room and put it on low to have the breeze be tolerable.
Im thinking of buying a less powerful floor fan and using this outside on the deck when its 90 degrees out.
Most people buy these kind of fans to circulate air/create a bit of white noise for children.
However, I am 20 years old and have used wind machines for years.
I put it right up to my face and turn it on high. I like a fan to be extremely loud.and while this is loud, it isnt as loud as others on the market.
So it comes down to the extent of noise/wind you desire.
I have this fan and a slightly older model which is virtually identical. It works quite well as a fan and can push out a prodigious amount of air. Just recently, the older one seemed to develop a problem and the blades no longer turned. When I examined it carefully, I noticed that the fan blade assembly had become detached from the fan motor. I was able to repair it using an electric screw driver but this necessitated taking off the front grill (one screw refused to come out) and then reattaching the fan blade assembly which is held by only one set screw. In my opinion, this is not a great way to secure the fan blades and I am assuming that this may well happen some time in the future.
If you are a little handy and have the proper tools, this is not the worst thing in the world, but reattaching the fan grill was not so easy given the essentially cheap machining of the whole thing. Again, not the worst thing in the world and I have no idea as to whether this has happened to others here, but if you purchase one, you may run into the same problem so be prepared. Again, when the fan is working, it does a great job!
