I am very please with the purchase of the Moutec Large Electronic Rifle Safe. It is sturdy, secure, and has adequate room for my limited amount of firearms. It is a solidly built cabinet and secure electronic combination lock and over-ride key lock. I feel that it will keep every safe, while I will still have easy access.
Like other reviewers mentioned, this is not a super heavy-duty safe, but its definitely good for what it was purchased for: securing my weapons and keeping my kids out. Pre-drilled to secure to wall or floor super easy, and anyone who says it tips over is an idiot - who doesnt bolt down a gun safe? The packaging was really good, the lock is not a SCIF cypher, but it gets the job done. Definitely happy with the purchase for the price.
This is a light (88 lbs) gun locker that is relatively easy to move around and install. Perfect for a closet or to keep a weapon close while you are asleep. It would deter a smash and grab robber and would keep out kids. The bolts that come with this 14 gauge safe / locker are designed for concrete. Most people would probably use this on a second floor, so a trip to the hardware store will be worthwhile to get some hardware for wood floors. While not a heavy duty safe by any means, it it built pretty well for being only 14 gauge. A good value.
Arrived quickly and was easy to setup. The packaging was good and even though there was minor shipping damage to the box, the safe itself was perfect. Biggest bonus was the customer service from Alan at Moutec, he reached out confirming my warranty registration and offered me a free door organizer to go with the safe!
If youre in the market to buy a gun safe it is important to know what kind of market you are getting into.
Most rifle gun safes today were built to resist the robber of yester-years (sled hammer and pry bar). Most safes even thousand dollar safes can be broken into with a cheap $15 dollar Harbor Freight grinder (research it).
So if you are looking for a rifle safe that is truly theft proof be prepared to spend thousands (focus on the s) of dollars to find a real safe that is truly theft proof for 2020.
If you are looking for a safe that is fire proof, you should know most safes that claim they are fire proof have shown to still bake the items inside (research it). And more importantly most manufactures use formaldehyde insulation for their fire proofing material which means your guns will rust faster inside the safe than outside of it. So once again if you are looking for a safe that is truly fire proof while also doesnt rust your guns be prepared to spend thousands (focus of the s) of dollars.
All that being said unless youre ready to go down that road for a true theft proof and/or fire proof rifle safe, what youre really getting with most rifle safes is a cabinet that prevents smash and grab theft, stopping kids, and keeping honest people honest.
This in my opinion is the safe that fits that bill. Is has enough weight, ability to bolt or metal braided cord down, safety features, and size that will store your rifles, and keep most others out.
Any safe under $2000 is going to get you the same level of protection as this safe. Dont waste the money.
Plus it should also be noted that true home safety starts with making your home not a target for criminals. You want your home to be too much of a hassle for them (cameras, security systems, dogs, fences, etc.) Put that extra cash to use and beef up the outside of your home security.
