First and foremost, look at the price. Yes, you get what you pay for. This is a nice set. It is sturdy and the finish is as durable as it gets without being lacquer. But, you are taking your chances ordering this. Three of the pieces were defective. So we could not assemble the top bunk for about a week after we received this. Our son was disappointed that he had to sleep on his new mattress on the floor for a week, while our other son got to sleep in his big boy bed. One piece was split and cracked. The cracked piece was the sandwiched wood that I saw mentioned in another review. It was clear it split from temperature or moisture. It was not the same solid wood that all of the other pieces are made of. Two of the other pieces were damaged in manufacturing. It was clear they were damaged in a machine that they were fed into before being stained and finished. The company was nice enough and did send replacements. I dont like to give bad reviews for damage that is replaced, because we have a few high end special order pieces from Macys Furniture, and even one of the very expensive leather sofas came damaged. And Macys tried to not replace it, even though I tried to reject it on delivery. The days of getting a perfect furniture delivery are long gone for a good 15 / 20 years. This company gave us no problem getting the replacements. And once all together it is a good sturdy piece. I could get on the top bunk at 220+ lbs. Though it is a little light and started to tip over as I climbed up the small ladder. It is supposedly pine but I believe things labeled pine now a days are a lighter tropical wood and not true pine, which is heavier. The slats that hold the beds were very good quality hardwood and look like oak. These are strong enough to hold anyone on these beds. The finish is very, very durable. The unassembled pieces were in the kids room on the floor for a week and I heard them get banged around more than once, without getting damaged. If you order this, expect there to be damaged pieces and expect to wait another week before putting it all together. The kids will be disappointed if they are looking forward to getting their new bed. So be warned, it is likely to be delivered with damage, which requires you to go through the company return process. It took about 30 mins to put the bottom bunk together and another 45/50 minutes to put the top together. You will want to have a good drill handy to drill the slats that hold the beds and to drill the support that runs on the outside of the top bunk/both of these use wood screws with no predrilled holes. Once all together it is a very nice bed for kids. Just expect there to be damaged pieces. It is a waste for the company that makes these to do it this way. But, if this set came 100 perfect 100 of the time, it would cost more than double this price. Even with the hassle and delay, it is still well worth this price.
Great, my son loves it, however it did have some slight scratches on it. But nothing too obvious. I am using polish also so it most gone. Good as new. The great thing is the bed is strong. My uncle fell asleep on the top bunk, no problems.
This is a review of the We Furniture Twin/Twin Bunkbed in Expresso stain. I just finished putting it together and it is a solid bunkbed. The dark stain looks great and hides some of the areas where filler was used on some of he wood panels. It took about 3 hours for me to build it. The only 2 problems that I encountered were: 1) as others said, dont screw in the bed slats near the ladder end of the bed, until you attach the ladder / the slats will get in the way of the large screws. 2) The holes for the large frame and ladder screws were not deep enough and I had to drill the holes deeper to accept the full length of the screws (or maybe the end of the screw holes were tapered) In any case, I used a 13/64 drill bit that worked well and allowed the screw threads bite into the wood and could be screwed in all the way.
This bed looks really good but if you want perfect wood (with no filler) you need to spend 1000.
It was delivered in a 6 foot tall box that was very heavy. The packing is a miracle of engineering. Its hard to believe that everything fit into the box. I only noted one minor scuff on a wood post. The packing was impressive.
The directions are OK. A cordless drill or screw driver with the necessary tips will make the assembly easier / not necessarily faster, but easier. There are no extra screws or dowels so dont lose of damage anything.
I cant comment on the durability yet but I am impressed by the quality so far.
I like the look of the bed, and feel like it was a fair buy for the price.one of the pieces came damaged and now I have the hassle of trying to get a replacement piece. Guess that is one of the hards of buying online. The bed went together fairly well, I was disappointed in the slats being such rough wood. It would look much cleaner and also be safer for kids with nicely painted white wood slats. Overall its ok, it looks beautiful, and feels fairly sturdy.
My daughter desperately wanted a bunk bed for Christmas. We looked at the local kids bed store and left with the impression that we would need to spend 1,500 on a bed, and wait weeks for a truck to deliver it. It was with great skepticism that we ordered this one on for less than 300. How is that possible?
We were not disappointed. It was delivered in 2 days how is that even possible? The box is long and very heavy. One person can roll and drag it, but you will need two to lift it anywhere. Assembly does take time and patience, but I cant see anything that can be improved. The assembly and quality are on par with anything you would buy from IKEA. Highly recommend you have two people for assembly and set aside three to four hours.
The ladder location is predetermined to be on the right, as pictured. However, that didnt stop me from moving it to the left. You do need to drill holes and accept a few imperfections, but it IS possible to move the ladder. You will need some basic carpentry skills to make this work.
Overall very impressed with the entire experience. My daughter loves it! We did not experience any of the negative issues that others have reported for example, none of the parts were scratched or damaged (we ordered white). The wood is solid wood. All of the holes were in perfect alignment. If you put a thin mattress and then have an adult press their knee into it, you will protrude into the slats but this bed was not made for adults jumping on it. Just keep your expectations in line with the price and you wont be disappointed.
This bed has the potential for 5 stars, but there are a couple of issues.
First, I have taken pictures of each piece that has dents or scratches in them. There is at least 10 pieces like this and one has 2 big gauges in it. I cant afford to send it back and needed it bad for my daughter as her old bed was done for.
The setup was pretty easy and instructions were simple. It also seems sturdy but i would suggest buying a piece of plywood due to the slats being far apart and not many of them. Also it comes with two spacers to help place the slats, but the issue is the two spacers we got were different lengths.
Now being we just got it yesterdat, we will see how it holds up and will be getting plywood asap. Just very disappointed with the money spent and condition of some pieces.
Great bunk beds easy to assrmble, if that is what you are into, ( I personally love that kind of thing) there a strong smell from the paint, but that disappeared after 24 hours, very strong bed look great, so worth the money great bargain, would highly recommend

Wonderful bunk bed
This is perfect for my nine year olds room. It was shipped quickly and arrived without a scratch. Its very sturdy and was easy to put together.

Dented, gauged, but has potential.

Sturdy and goes together easily. Nice looking finish. It looks like a much more expensive bed.
