We have a 5 year old and a 1 year old. Right now we are using the top of the bunk as the play place for the 5 year olda tiny toys (we just added some painted plywood). Eventually theyll share a room with this bed. The bed is cute and sturdy. It doesnt overwhelm their small room like I thought it would. I like that it can be faced either way.
The only con I have is that the bottom bed is really difficult to make, but thats not such a big deal.
It took hubby and I about half a day to put it together.
I purchased this bed with the trundle for the grandkids since I didnt want bunk beds. What I didnt like was the width between the slats and the issues of breakage reported in the reviews. I looked into buying bunkie boards to place on the slats but that would of been too think for the trundle, so I added pieces of finished plywood on top of the slats.
After researching what material to buy I went to the local big box hardware store and had them cut 1/2 inch thick finished plywood to 38 by 75 for the top and 38 by 74 for the trundle. Worked perfect as a platform plus there has been no issues with any breakage. I believe if you want to use plywood on a full bed it has to be thicker than 1/2, also I bought the ready to paint or stain plywood so the finish would not be rough and I didnt need to sand it.
We ordered the twin over twin bunk. Its so aesthetically pleasing and seems to be decently sturdy. It took about 7 hours to assemble (with the help of two kids). The instructions werent complicated, but not super easy to fol either.
Our BIG PROBLEM is the slide. Its way steep. Like scary steep. We are trying to think of the best way to help it not be so dangerous. I would just remove it, but my kids are excited to have a slide. But they dont like going down unless we are standing there.
The other issue is that the drawers beneath dont really have anything to attach to. They have wheels on the bottom, but they arent actually attached to the bed. So they go anywhere. Its annoying. I have a feeling I will just buy baskets or totes to slide under the bed.
All in all, we love the bed. Hate the slide, and not pleased with the storage drawers.
This was easy to assemble and seems to be good quality. The pre/drilled holes all lined up correctly and assembly was easy, if a bit time consuming. The packaging was good and even though the box had a few squashed corners, the bed was completely fine. The finish seems durable. We are very happy with it.
Love these bunk beds! Very sturdy. Bed was easy to put together, stairs were a little trickier. Well worth it though. Perfect for our littles (4 year old and 18 months). Adults can safely go on the top bunk as well.
This is a good bunk bed but I am amed at some of the reviews that I read here:
/This is NOT that easy to assemble. The hieroglyphic instructions made my eyes cross. Once I did the first bed the second was easier but I strongly recommend the company make an assembly video. You can do it but it took me all day to get it done and I am fairly handy although no carpenter. Getting the wood slats into the top and bottom side rails was tricky. I suggest you do it vertically instead of across the floor. put the first piece down on the floor and insert the slats down into it. Then er the second piece DOWN onto the slats from left to right at an angle, one at a time. Getting the heavy box upstairs with no hand holds was fun. Be careful!
/400lbs per bed? Maybe but I sure wouldnt. And if you sleep under a 400lb person you are tempting fate. I would limit the top bunk to much less weight. Also the bottom bunk doesnt have enough wood slats across it for support. I plan to go buy some more plywood to strengthen it for my full size futon. Also the manufacturer should have a second lengthwise support. Both beds (twin/full) each have one bar support that is held by a bracket attached by 4 tiny little screws.
/Some pieces including two of the ladder steps and the long rear top bunk rails, are held only by wooden dowels. They should be bolted.
/The paint finish is barely just fair. Blotchy.
It may sound like I hate this bed but I dont. It is still a pretty fair choice and you will probably be happy with it at least after you get all put together lol.
TO THE PERSON WHO GOT HIT IN THE HEAD when her six year old pulled the top rails out of place: Did you remember to drive the three screws into the vertical support next to the ladder? They are in a triangular pattern but are behind the support and easy to miss.
I would have given it 4 stars if they had an assembly video and better support under the mattresses. 5 stars if they fixed those wood dowels and improved the paint a little bit.

Quick assembly.
I would have gave them a 5 star but one of the bolts was unusable and they did not supply any extra so I have to find a replacement.
Where do I start.
