Colorado Gold Rush!! See SIZE in this review for important Info!

Wowzee! This is the REAL Colorado Gold Rush! OK, 2014 Gold Rush ;-} I hesitated for a long time to get this because the color is called Bronze and I did NOT want brown luggage! However, while the photo does not look brown, photo mistakes happen and I didnt want to receive brown manly luggage (sorry guys). The only reason I pulled the trigger is because someone else (GLENDA!!!) wrote a review and called it SPUN GOLD (thank you!). I rely on all of your reviews so I hope all of my reviews help you too. - COLOR: SPUN GOLD. Glenda was right! This luggage is NOT Bronze! It is a beautiful soft metallic beige-y almost antique gold, but not dark-kind of like gold that has a little patina. Not brassy, yellowy or bright. Just elegant, classy and beautiful. Gorgeous! - TEXTURE: SPUN! The texture is interesting. It looks almost woven. There are lighter gold threads, medium gold and slightly darker, almost coppery threads woven into a flat, sort of smooth golden finish with a slight textural feel. It is NOT a 1-dimension, matte, boring opaque yucky plastic. But its not shiny (just a little sheen), sparkle-y or reflective either. Does not have a polished to a shine or clear-coat look. - LOOKS: Super Classy! Someone else called it the Rolls Royce luggage - theres an emblem on the top that sort of looks like the Chrysler wings with an R in the middle that does resemble Rolls Royce - very classy! Ill call it my Lexus luggage because it reminds me of the Lexus gold. The trim color is the only thing that I dont like - its a little lighter than the body color. If you look closely at the photo you can see it. That could have been matched better, but it certainly doesnt bother me enough to return it. All of the bags look very expensive (and gold is!). The interior is a nice grey fabric with white circles, nice pockets, straps and each came with a NICE TSA approved lock! Nice bonus! - ARRIVAL: Arrived in 1 box. Pieces all nest inside each other and were all individually wrapped in plastic, foam sheets and foam blocks protecting the wheels. As someone else said, UPS smushed and tore the box (I swear they let raccoons loose in the trucks at night) but the suitcases were in perfect condition. All hang tags were attached with the warranty card. I unwrapped all 3 of them so I could show them off at work and mine have no weird smells (as someone else said). - EASE: They are SPINNERS! What can you say? AWESOME! Do NOT miss my old tip drags. - QUALITY: As another reviewer said, the trim is sort of not attached well in a couple places on the big case. Again, not a deal breaker for me-its nothing a little E6000 cant fix! We are not traveling until Christmas, so I cant make any statements about whether or not theyll hold up through international holiday travel - theyll get their workout. The handles do seem a little shaky, but well see. All of the spinner wheels are smooth and work exactly as they should. Spinner wheels are different from tip drags - roll it around the house to see how they work. - SIZE: OK, heres where I got scared. Spirit Airlines is VERY strict about size limits (all airlines are getting this way). Their Carry-on bag limit: Maximum of 22 x 18 x10 inches (56 x 46 x 25 cm) including handles and wheels. The CARRY-ON BAG in this set is EXACTLY 22 High including wheels and handle!!!! The medium size bag (says 24) is actually 26 with wheels, and so on. Due to the weight limits of check-in bags now, Im not sure if we will take the largest bag or not. The size fits within the restrictions, but it would be really easy to fill it half full and be way over the 40 LB limit as the bag already weighs 10 pounds. - OVERALL VALUE: Since I havent actually traveled with them yet, cant give a 100% opinion. I have looked for 5 years for nice looking, different bags that dont look stupid or trendy. 4 years ago we went from the heavy old tip drags to light-weight duffle-style bags. While duffles are light and squish down, they dont stand up on their own (very annoying) and arent very attractive. Kind of embarrassing when going to a nice hotel! I recently bought my daughter a Samsonite very expensive polycarb spinner that went to Europe. Guess what? Scratched, of course. ABS polycarb bags get scratched, scuffed, dirty and thrown around just like old fabric bags and duffles. Deal with it - its going to happen regardless of the price! The handle on her Samsonite IS more sturdy, so time will tell on the handles on these. Honestly, for what I paid for these Ill be super happy if they can handle whats in store for them traveling at Christmas!! - BUY ME TOO: Looking for a perfect personal item (backpack/purse) to carry-on that is classy too? Check out my review:

I had a horrible experience at the airport with my previous luggage

I had a horrible experience at the airport with my previous luggage. This hard shell luggage is PERFECT and just what I needed to travel with. Shipping was extremely fast.

Appearance wont hold up, handle isnt sturdy

The case is pretty decent, one trip and it has dent marks from the plastic sides. Im not sure how long it will last. It looks sharp. the tall handle isnt very sturdy, the large suitcase from I bought held up better, and it went below the plane. You get what you pay for.

    Spun Gold Luggage

These are a gorgeous set of luggage. There will never be a problem trying to find yours when it rolls into baggage claim at the airport. Plenty of room inside, the 4 wheels make it amazingly easy to roll along next to you, taking every corner with ease. No more heavy luggage that twists when you are in a hurry. Inside each one is ample room with shoe storage, zippered pocket flap, plus stretch clasps to hold your clothes in place. There is plenty of room behind the flap that holds the shoes too. The small case held enough clothes, socks, underclothes, summer clothing, long pants shirts for 12 outfits, including 2 pairs of shoes for my 11 year old. There is a handle on top, along with an sliding handle, plus a handle on the side for lifting, which helps when it is heavy to lift. The outside is a hard shell mesh type of gold molding. Very attractive, but Im not sure how the mesh will hold up in years to come. This is a very attractive set.

    Love

Beautiful luggage! And great quality! I traveled all over Europe with these and I watched how rough the luggage handlers were and these still came out looking new even after me dragging the small one all over pavement all day for several days. Great quality. I would buy again but it seems these are going to last forever!

    1st trip - Australia/USA return - Held up well!

I was fortunate enough to get this set when it was discounted, and have been very happy with it. As per my headline, the set had a tough maiden voyage, from Australia to USA and back,... this would have taxed even the most expensive of cases. Happy to say, that despite a few scuffs and slight black marks, all 3 cases held up VERY well. This type of wear and tear is exactly what I would have expected. Here are the pros and cons I have noted, to date: Pros - Great color! (bought the gold and its a lovely true gold color.. not too yellow and brassy at all.). Highly visible on the luggage carousel among the vast sea of black and navy cases. Had no problem at all identifying my bags. - They hold a LOT. OK, caveat here... I had to buy an extra case while I was in Australia, but that was only because I think I bought out half of the stores in that country. I was a bit concerned at first when I got them because of the inner ridges of the cases are fairly prominent. I learnt through multiple packing and re-packing experiments that the best thing to do was to roll smaller clothes and line the inside of the ridges, then pack as normal once they were filled. Its surprising how much those ridges actually ended up holding. - They are light and easy to maneuver. This, coming from a woman who had a full leg cast on, and had to travel alone with 2 children under the age of 9. The 9-year-old wheeled the smaller case and her little bag, and I had my handbag and the 2 larger cases. I had no problem getting them to and from airports and hotels by myself. - The carry-on sized case is the correct size for INTERNATIONAL carry-on requirements. I found that it was challenging to find a set online that met those specifications. Please note that there are many other sets out there, but the carry-on size will only be acceptable for Domestic flights. Please check the specifications re carry-on luggage with your airline before traveling on an international flight, particularly if you are used only traveling Domestic. They are very strict on International flights, and WILL make you check it if its too large to fit in the overhead compartments. Cons - - I can see that eventually the lighter tan plastic surrounding the zipper area will come away from the case. I think it would be fairly easy to repair, but that part of the case is a little cheaply done. That said, what do you expect from a set this inexpensive? Even if they last for only 2 or 3 more adventures, they have been well worth the cost. - I wish that the smaller carry-on case had some kind of outside compartment, although I realize that this would increase the price of set. I was able to carry a large handbag that held all of my travel documents, but I think I would have felt a lot more secure if they were off my person and in the carry-on. I hope this helps any would-be purchasers. Feel free to ask any questions, if you would like.

UPDATeD-They look good and held up for my travels

UPDATE:: So, in 2018, I ended my 3yr journey across several countries, on three continents. My largest bag lost a wheel in its 4th year of travel. I was able to manage the rest of my travels with it, but I did have to throw it away after my return to the USA. The middle size I gave to my sister, so shes still using it. The carry on is surprisingly, still in good shape. Yes, its got its travel scrapes [scars], but the wheels still work, the handles are still attached and work, however, the zipper for the inner part that closes the cover on the inside, is broken. It can only zip in one direction. But, I still use it for my short distance travels for my carry-ons. Thus, I appreciate the value I got out of this set. 4 long years and they did well. I do need a new set. I just might purchase this same color again. _____________________________________ OKAY! So this had mixed reviews that I did keep in mind before I purchased them. My biggest concern revolved around the zippers and handles - would they withstand international and national travel with numerous stops and layovers, without falling apart? They survived a domestic transport in a rental - no biggie, because I handled them. This was before my trip to Bali. They SURVIVED not only the trip to Bali, they survived to the trip back to the US, AND a Greyhound trip across country. They are a bit scuffed up but I am realistic about the shell - I was not expecting the shells to remain pristine and mint condition. No holes or dents at all, just a few scuffs of which I am okay with. Yes, i would have been upset if there were holes in them; gladly, this did not happen to either of them. I stuffed my checked bags [the two larger ones], so I was concerned if theyd remain closed. They did. Zippers are intact. I mean I stuffed them to where I had to kneel on them to zip them shut. They were also overweight for domestic standards, but within the weight means for Singapores international travel, so I was concerned about the handles. The handles survived. Ive had handles break on me left and right; these are still intact! The wheels are all intact. The handles are all intact. They survived. Easily identifiable at the baggage claim. All I had to do was wait for the gold to flash around the corner and grab for them. THAT is the main reason why I bought them. Second reason, they roll easily with the rotation feature on the wheels; that was also a necessity. If its just you traveling by yourself, and youve got three bags, pushing your suitcases like a cart is a blessing than to drag them behind you. I think any product you purchase will be a hit or miss. Some people were unhappy about the condition they showed up in or after one/two uses. Mine arrived in pristine condition, in one big box [suitcases were stacked inside of each other]. UPS is as they will always be...the box was a bit damaged and had a budding hole in one of the corners - the suitcases were fine. Ah yes, they do arrive with a glue/factory smell so air them out well before you pack your clothes or your items will stink. Give them a good day opened up on a porch/patio or a place where no one will take them...and then put dryer sheets in them, zip them up; keep it like that for a day or two. That worked well for me. I think thats it.

easy to wheel through the airport

Luggage is very stylish, easy to wheel through the airport. It does get dented and scuffed on the first use. But spacious inside and protects the contents.

Luggage for the discerning traveling Lady

LOVE these! So light, they roll great, and durable. I am taking them abroad this summer, after using them on the move for the past 6 weeks. So unique, so classy, easy to find in the airport!
