Adequate (Yes I would buy another one)

I purchased the bunk bed. All painted surfaces were in good condition. The product was well packaged (came in two boxes). The bed is sturdy and made with adequately strong materials for children. The ladder creaks when I put weight on it (200 lbs). During assembly I experienced the following challenges. I should note that I have a lot of experience assembling furniture (I assembled all of the floor displays at a Wal/Mart) for a couple years): (1) Poorly and inconsistently labeled parts. The wood pieces should be labeled (as claimed to be) because they look similar. I was able to differentiate parts from the diagrams in the directions. Pay particular attention to drill holes during assembly. As well, the hardware list in the directions was not entirely clear because the diagram showing the hardware was not drawn to scale. This would greatly help when determining which (of three) wood screws to use for example. (2) One of the safety rails on the upper bunk had a miss/aligned drill/hole (middle of the rail). This was easily overcome because the wood/screw easily self/taped into the wood. This would be a greater problem if one of the critical points at the rail/ends were miss/aligned. In addition, the bed does have a critical safety deficiency to be evaluated. The two bunks are only secured at one corner of the bed (at the ladder). The four corner rails are not securely attached; they are attached with a loose/fitting steel dowel only. I thought that this was quite unsafe (especially for small children). I was able to easily solve the problem with a simple flat steel bracket and some wood screws at the remaining 3 corner posts (luckily I had the hard/ware on hand). Im sure that could come up with a more elegant solution for little to no significant cost. You may think that I am being over cautious but within minutes of finishing assembly and showing my kids, my (less than sober) father in/law climbed up to the top bunk and then vaulted off causing the whole thing to rock off the floor. If I had not secured the corner posts it could easily have jumped off the dowels and possibly collapsed. Still, the finished product is attractive and safe (with my alterations). I would recommend it to a friend but only if I could help them assemble it. 3 of 5 stars.

Mixed Color parts sent and Directions left something to be desired

The bed itself is sturdy and well made. Assembling it was an adventure given the lack of labels on the parts and somewhat vague directions. We received two boxes of parts / both marked Unfortunately, some were pink and from another model bed, but they all went together and dont look too bad when together. We like the bed, but suggest care in assembling the parts!

    Amingly good deal

I bought this bunk bed in for my 6 and 4 year old daughters. I read plenty of reviews and looked at several other beds before finally purchasing. And I have to say almost all of the bad reviews are incorrect. The bunk beds were shipped fed ex so of course the package arrived in perfect condition, the DA was very helpful and carried the boxes into my garage. The set up of the beds took an hour tops, yes some of the pieces were NOT stamped but using common sense my husband was able to assemble them with no problems. Some complained about a weird smell and yes there is a smell of new wood. It didnt smell toxic. And my girls were able to sleep in it the first night. All in all this bunk bed is a steal and well worth the money. Excellent smanship and not cheap like a lot of the higher end models.

    Perfect for our needs

My 5 year old son absolutely LOVES this bed! He tells everybody, including the check out lady at the supermarket about his two beds! I love the subtle design in the headboard and footboard and the clean lines of the entire bed. I could do without so many bolt/screw holes that you can see just looking at it but its a small price to pay for such a great set of beds. Its very sturdy and well made, I dont worry about my son sleeping on the top bunk at all. The lower bunk is very short, as I have read in many other beds even before making my purchase, but I wasnt planning on sleeping in it anyway and it is the perfect size for kids. We have small rooms so I didnt want a larger profile bunk bed, this almost mini version is just what we needed! My husband plans to do something to cover the holes as well so they are less noticable. The areas where the pieces will stay together for the duration he used wood glue and the bolts to ensure their durability but Im not even sure that was necessary. We just read that one reviewer said they werent very sturdy so we took the extra precaution. We love that we can take them apart in the future for 2 separate beds or keep them together. Very happy with this purchase!

Product came in sooooo many parts WOW i felt like a carpenter.

This product is ok but I have to do modification to it. I should have to. I am waiting for replacement parts. Screws came strips and who ever made it needs to get fired for lack of attention to detail. I spend 205 on this bed and thats not cheap so getting what you paid does not go here. I expected better from which is a good company. UNSAT to your builders.

Ten and Seven year old love it!

The reviews are spot/on. The only recommendation is MAKE SURE when you begin the assembly, to place the sides of the bed where THE LADDER goes on the correct (out) sideotherwise, youll just about be done (the ladder is the last part) and youll realize you put the sides together inside out. Otherwise, BEST BUNK BED EVER.

Defective parts. Lousy paint. Parts dont fit.

It came in two boxes. In the first one there were planks that go under the mattress / their ends were very rough, but I thought that it will not be visible and is not a problem for structural integrity / though I wanted the bed to be nice as it was for my daughters. I continued with the assembly. Do you know the quality? This is much worse. The dowels were very loose and were falling out by themselves, the edges were rough or even chipped. The paint is very thin (the wood texture is visible through) and poor (in the photo you can see what seems to be a defect in the wood they fixed and glued, but the glue got through the paint). It looked ugly! One of the headboards did not fit at all / the difference was about a 1/4 of an inch (see photo). As I figured in about 15 minutes / the parts it was made of were not glued together properly. I hammered it in for 1/8 that allowed to insert the loosely fitting dowels. I was getting mad, but still hoped it would be OK. But then I got to the climbing ladder wood piece that would hold a climbing child / it was split at its edge (see photo)! I did not want to take any chances with the safety of my kids. It took me about an hour and a half to disassemble and put everything in the boxes, so that the boxes would close. Very disappointed!

    My daughters love this.

My daughters love this. I did not realize when I bought it how low the clearance under the top bunk would be. There is less height there than in other bunkbeds we have had. The girls dont mind, but it is a little more difficult for my husband and I when putting our daughter to bed. However, it probably would not be too much of an issue if we did not have to have a baby rail there. Also, I would not suggest it for big kids(teens). My daughters are 2 and 4.

    Nice bed, a few issues

First off, the item shipped very quickly and we were very excited to get it put together. Went fairly quickly, except we were missing 1 of the hardware pieces. Also, the finish really had a strong smell (we have had it for 2 weeks, and it has disappeared now). The bed was a great price, looks very nice, and seems to be pretty sturdy. My only main complaint, the side board finish has already started chipping off!! I called and they very easily are sending a new sideboard, although Im concerned how it will hold up over time. But so far, it is worth the money.

    Perfect for a small room!

Our 4/year/old loves her bed! The top bunk isnt too high, which is a plus. She sleeps on the bottom bunk and her toys sleep on the top bunk. My dad assembled the bed within the two hour time frame. It arrived via FedEx in two separate boxes. All the parts and pieces were thereand clearly labeled. Its perfect for a kids room! Theres plenty of room under the bottom bunk to store toys and/or baskets.
