I really like the product, would have gotten to full 5 star, and maybe it will depending if someone can teach me about the access code, or maybe Im reading it wrong.
Its a very good price, mount and whole structure is solid and sturdy. Easy install instructions, pretty straight forward. The only thing was the access code. The description says An entry is a single press of one or more buttons at the same time. and even gives a description, A valid access code is: Press button one. Press buttons one and two simultaneously. Press buttons one, two, and three simultaneously. But when doing this, I mean exactly how this is worded, the two buttons pressed or any simultaneously buttons pressed does not register as an entry. So I just kept mine simple instead of simultaneously pressed buttons.
It gets the job done, key works great, simple access code will still keep anyone trying to get into it right away, serves its purpose well.
Overall, great product, great price, great quality. Very Sturdy product.
Can not change code. Instruction not for this safe. Calls for initialization knob. There is none. Update. a red button that is for changing the code had come off during shipping. I took off the panel on the door. And reattached to the safe. Easy fix. But the safe has two codes. Was able to change on. But others can not change. Fits 5 of my rifles just fine. two handguns in the upper lockbox. Will not hold ammo cans and rifles. yes we like it.
The door will not shut if you place AR rifles in like the picture shows in the ad. I have 4 AR rifles and even with the magine out on all of them the door will not shut unless you place them in sideways which is not what is advertised. It works, but is not ideal. The quality is good and looks like it will last for some time. Poor construction.
Takes a bit to figure out the instructions, but its okay. The door is heavy, and should be mounted to avoid tipping. Primary complaint: the adhesive on the inner paneling smells VERY FOUL. Been trying everything to deal with the unpleasant odor. Aside from that, pretty solid.
On update: Its been a couple months now, and the smell hasnt dissipated. In fact, its going back in the other direction. The retailer suggested we let it air out for a few days, which we did for weeks. That helped for a bit. Now that its closed most of the time, the smell appears to be regaining its potency.
To make matters worse, I recently noticed the somewhat loose handle gives a few centimeters on the locking mechanism for the door / meaning, even while locked, you can start to open the lock a bit. It looks like with enough force, you can turn the handle as much as you can, and pry it open.
Honestly, the best PRO about this safe is the dimensional capacity, but it comes with some real CONS. Im inclined to try another manufacturer after this purchase. Would not recommend.
Needed a secure place to keep guns away from children. This works great so far. It was easy to set up a code and save my fingerprint for easy access. The weight of the safe is impressive. The lock box on the inside for documents and valuables is a nice additional feature. Only reason I dont give it 5 stars is because it came in poor quality packaging and was slightly damaged in one corner, but not badly enough to warrant a return. Very easy to set up!
It arrived well packaged and quickly. Easy to assemble after you figure out the setup. Programed my fingerprint at various angles and did multiple.
I like this product, my only problem is that the keypad stopped working after I had it all set up. Now I can only open with the finger print.
Waiting on the company but still hasnt heard from them.
I would hate to have to unbolt and send back. I hope it is sturdy.
A fairly good gun safe. The opening/closing handle could be sturdier. Good amount of room inside for shot guns and rifles with room left for handgun and a reasonable quantity of ammunition. Really good.
After all the good review, I decided to buy it. A couple months into using it. I notice that after locking it up, if I pull the handle really hard the door become loose and pop out,like WTH! Theft can easily open it.
The unit quality overall is pretty good / I could store all my guns and almost all the ammo. Not that spacious, especially if you have long shotgun / I strongly suggest to buy an accessory gun holder for the door so they wont interfere with the long guns. The lock mechanism and unlock mechanism is lightning fast. BUT, the finger print reader does hold your finger prints for a couple of days max / then it wont work anymore / need to re/record it all the time. It is quite a quick operation to do that but not great. I wish they would use better quality electronics to run that because finger prints would be the fastest way to access the guns. Works great!
Ive had the rifle safe now for a few weeks. In general, Im liking the safe itself. The fingerprint reader has worked flawlessly, and I also use the code (which I reprogrammed from the default) periodically, and that has worked well also. I like the lockable compartment within the safe. The safe included 3 pre/drilled holes in the back, and 2 in the floor to secure it in place. If you do not secure it, just know that it can be somewhat tippy with the door open, and subject to falling over. They have also included anchors, although those are more for anchoring into concrete, and not a normal hollow wall or wall stud application. You would need to use something else for those. One thing I was concerned about was the headroom inside the safe, for longer guns. In case you wonder, like I did, the distance from inside floor of the safe to the bottom of the lockable compartment is just under 50 1/4.
To be honest, reprogramming the code was not easy when following the instructions. But, if you go to the Moutec online site, they do have some helpful videos to get you through it (and some other instructional items). The company has been very attentive after the sale. So, far, I really like my purchase. Very pleased!

Door is not secure,become loose if you pull really hard
After all the good review, I decided to buy it. A couple months into using it. I notice that after locking it up, if I pull the handle really hard the door become loose and pop out,like WTH! Theft can easily open it.
