I purchased the cantilevered version of the umbrella. Returned it because we changed our mind about the color. BCP was great. They paid for the shipment back, and I promptly purchased another one from them directly. I learnt along the way that you do have to purchase the weights for the umbrella to stand upright, otherwise it will fall over. That set me back some additional dollars. The umbrella worked pretty well for a couple of months / likely because we left it open mostly. Last week (about 4 months from purchase), I went to open the umbrella, and the plastic housing which holds the crank cracked right open. See photo. The umbrella has not been dropped, has not been abused in any way, but the quality is so poor that the plastic gave way after what would be considered an unacceptably short time. The other thing that has occurred since we got the umbrella is that the color of the canopy has completely faded from a dark brown to a pale brown.
I contacted customer support, and they indicated to me that the warranty for this umbrella is 60 days, and that they can not do anything about repairing or replacing it. They suggest I call a repairman to fix it!! Not sure what a repairman can do to repair the cracked plastic housing as it is not a part one can purchase separately to replace.
So net net, the prices are low for the products, but you really do get what you pay for! I will not be buying anything from this company again given my experience with the quality of the product.
We enjoyed this pool umbrella for about two months. It was beautiful and worked well with the led lights, until it didnt. It broke, and now I need to get a new one. Total bummer. It also rusted in the pool step at the base. I hope the next one lasts longer than this one did. Note: get an extended warranty.
