Love the way this piece looks, and it is really sturdy. I couldn't knock it down if I tried. There are A LOT of pieces and a lot of steps in the instruction booklet. One thing that's a bit confusing, and caused me a bit of grief when constructing is that the finished edges of a lot of the boards are on the rear of the unit rather than the front, meaning when you're building the particle board is exposed on the front until the very end of construction. There are no clear delineations in the instruction to say which side is finished or unfinished, and unfortunately I ended up with exposed particle board on the central horizontal piece rather than the rustic oak veneer because assembling that central shelf was step 2, but I didn't notice it was off until attaching it on step 16. Using shading to show the rough sides would make the instructions clearer, though If I could get my hands on some strips of a matching veneer it wouldn't be an issue.
This cabinet had a defect which made it impossible to assemble. The second time that I contacted the customer service for the company the woman that I spoke to was wonderful. I was prepared to buy the part that didn't work and they replaced the entire cabinet. My son put it together for me last week and it is a very attractive and functional piece of furniture. I'm using it as a buffet cabinet in my dining room. Very satisfied. The second cabinet went together quite well.
The manufactured wood is just that pressed paper type of wood. The screws do not have good predrilled holes and tear it apart. The metal bolt break when turning to lock in the screws. Definitely not worth $200 at all. Some of my screws broke out of the wood or stripped it completely. Would
Never buy anything from this company again!
The UPS guy left this outside in the rain and the wood warped and did not hold the screws (not great) but reached out to and the manufacturer and they sent a replacement and had no issues. They turned a bad experience into a good one! Great service to both companies involved!
