In spare room so havent used it and cannot comment on sturdiness. Friend assembled it for me; could see it took effort. Its heavy so I couldnt do it by myself // I couldnt carry the parcel into the house. Definitely not simple to assemble as suggested by some of the reviews. Best purchase yet!
This is and so sturdy! Our only issue was that the manufacturer put the non slip pads on the top of one of the end pieces instead of the bottom. I like it.

Great bed
Great bed / trundle wouldnt be good for adult or big kid / but overall good for my childs bedroom. Bless your hearts.
