It looks great, came separate days but was worth the wait! Words cannot express how comfortable and well structured this bed is; if only I could give it more than 5 stars...Dag! Only important note to potential buyers is to maximize the quality of this bed it is essential to buy or already own a wooden frame: the comfortability you will receive will justify the cost.
Looks gorgeous and easy to assemble. My initial plan was to purchase this futon mattress to be used as a couch that can be converted to a bed in case I have guests. I did plan to use it for a while during the time I researched a higher-end mattress for daily use. For comparisons sake I was willing to spend in the $2600 range for a good mattress. I am sure some people will spend more, but for me thats quite a bit of money.
Although I cannot yet vouch for its longevity I can say that in the last couple of weeks since I bought it I fallen asleep almost instantly and woken up feeling refreshed and without any back stiffness. Keep in mind that I moved from a house with multi-acre lots and virtually no noise to an apartment that is close enough to hear train whistles throughout the night and I was a very light sleeper beforehand.
I was concerned that the mattress was going to be too soft as it is s softest futon mattress, but I am glad I made this choice. Like other reviews (not just on ) have stated, this futon mattress is still quite firm. An additional advantage to the mattress being softer is that it can still be manipulated quite easily (in my opinion) into the couch position. I had read comments in other reviews that the firmer futon mattresses by s feel like sleeping on a carpeted floor -- I did not want that. If I wanted the feeling of sleeping on a carpeted floor I would sleep on a carpeted floor. It is possible that because I have a relatively muscular rear that I need the extra softness for my spine to conform properly, so keep in mind that your body shape might make a difference in the firmness you need.
At this point I see no need to purchase a real bed unless this mattress does not hold up. If I feel the need for another mattress I may very well get another one of these.
The only difficulty with this mattress is in finding a slipcover that fits. If someone has suggestions on that front other than making my own I would appreciate it. I do know someone who can make them, but having the option to buy would be helpful information just in case.
I saw another review that stated it is not Queen size. I wonder if that person got the wrong sized mattress, because when I got it I placed it on top of my existing queen-sized bed to compare and they are exactly the same. A measuring tape confirmed this as well.
Simple, unique and elegant Its a great mattress I bought the same one from planet futon .its firm but not to firm iv had it for 8months now and its held up good. Its doesnt have a sink in feeling like you would think and thats probably because its convoluted (egg crate) foam stuffed in a mattress and not polyurethane foam (memory foam) which made me mad when I first bought it cause It wasnt that cloud feeling. I later bought a 3inch memory foam topper to give me that cloud feeling .
Very well made and great design In my opinion, this is THE futon mattress to buy. I own two, one is a full size and one is a queen size. I bought the full size back in 2005 and it is still going strong, even after years of having two adults sleeping on it - still provides just the right amount of firmness and support. We bought the queen size back in 2013 when we got a larger bed-frame. Thus far, the queen sized version has been every bit as good as the full sized one. The only thing I would caution you on: this is not a mattress for someone who plans to keep their futon folded up into a couch. These mattresses are thick and they do not fold well.
Well engineered, good quality and great looking. Love this mattress. Every Goldilocks is different, but Im really happy with the way these have held up. My first one lasted 10 years, and Im back for another.
What You See Is What You Get I bough this futon from Shop4Futons but they do have an Store. This mattress is excellent, very supportive while being soft on top. I would not call it fluffy on top or soft where you sink down into it. It is more like a pillow top or Euro Top to me. This mattress is well made, you can tell. The warranty is 10 years but the rep at the store told me it would easily last 15 as we are not using it everyday. That is a real cost effective factor for me. I did not want to buy something cheap and then have throw it away after a year. I have had this mattress for about a month now. We use it in a guest room where we have 2nd TV and I sit on it as a couch a few times a week. It is excellent in the couch position is very comfortable like a high end sofa. The futon will be used as a bed a few times a year. My son slept in it and he loved it. He recommended the mattress as he lives in Athens Georgia and he was able to see the mattress and help me choose the right one. Also, this is advertised as 8 but mine expanded to 9 so it is very much like a bed mattress. I did not purchase the Grip Strips as recommended. I went to Home Depot and purchased an 8 x 11 rug grip pad for $11.00 and cut the pad in half down the middle lengthwise and placed one strip on the back and one strip on the seat and with the help of my husband we folded the futon into couch position. Then we took a bungee cord and strapped it around the seat where it folded and hooked it on the back side of the futon. Worked like a charm. The rep at the store said you had to train mattresses to stay on your futon when in couch position so we took his advice and it worked. We were able to take the bungee cord off after a week. and the mattress stays on. I dont have a cover yet as I am going to look locally. Buy this mattress. You will not regret it. Also for your info the people sleeping on this are between average around 150 lbs. So that might give you an idea of how it works for us. Like I said it definitely does not sag when we lie on it or sit on it and you dont feel like you are going to fall off the edge either if you sleep close to the edge of the bed. Buy this, youll love it.
High Quality, Modern and Elegant I purchased this mattress for my daughters futon/bunk bed (full size futon on the bottom, twin bunk on the top) thinking this thing would mostly be used as a couch and occasionally as a guest bed. She loves this mattress and has spent every night sleeping on it. My husband and I have tried it out too and we think its great. If youre looking for a firm mattress, this is not the one for you. Its still supportive, but is quite squishy. Also, if youre planning to change this from a bed to a couch on a frequent basis, this will provide a great workout. The mattress is very thick so its difficult to fold back into a couch. It can be done, but it takes a bit of muscle. Gripper strips are a must to keep it from slipping! Overall, Im very happy with this purchase.
