Bought this as an early Christmas present for my 11yr old. She has always wanted a bunk bed but we are very limited in space. The shelves serve more as a catch all (she has far too many books for it). The desk is used all day, everyday. While I would love to have her push it in when its not in use, it doesn't seem to ever not be used lol. The drawers could be a bit larger. She doesn't have many clothes but the ones she wears don't all fit. At 11yrs the ladder seems to be more of a recommendation than a requirement. She is lanky as all get out and uses one rung just to get high enough to over the banister. She keeps a tent on it as well so the banister cutout is blocked for the most part. How she doesn't break something getting up in the middle of the night, I'll never know. The underside serves as a wonderful storage area for her tubs of art supplies too. Overall, she's incredibly pleased with this purchase!
My son really wanted a loft bed and after looking around we found this one and thought it looked good and would hopefully be better built than some of the other beds we could get at the usual places that have flat-packed furniture. From the quality perspective, certainly not. The bed itself is of OK quality, but the chest of drawers, the desk, the desk wheels, etc are low quality, built from simple butt-joints and screws that will certainly break over time.
In a world where we want low-voc finishes and products, this is the opposite. Out of the box is smelled like a chemical factory and it wasn't fleeting, but even with windows open in the room lingered for over 2 weeks. I'm not sure how a company who is selling children's furniture can in good conscious market something that smells like this and has a formaldehyde label on it.
The design was perfect for our son, but the execution would make me suggest that you don't buy it.
I've bought and assembled a lot of flat pack furniture in my lifetime. Most of it has not been sturdy or used decent quality material as I would have hoped. This bed has been a very good purchase and we are very happy with all aspects. The bed parts are well made and the fit and finish are above average. The instructions were easy to follow. Once assembled the bed is very sturdy. Our only complaint was the short screws that attached the desk rails to the underside of the bed frame. They were way too short so there was barely 1/8 of screw engagement. The weight of the desk pulled the screws out. I got some T-nuts and longer bolts. Now the desk rails are fully supported against both gravity and downward pressure on the desk. If we ever needed another loft bed this would be the only one we would buy!
The directions weren't the best. Had to undo things a few times just to turn it the right way. Material is just okay. I guess appropriate for the price.
But overall I do like it and my son has yet to leave the room by chose. He woke up the first morning and just laid in bed watching TV and said he didn't want to get out.
I put lights around the bottom, there's a decent amount of space under there for him to hang out.
I saw a lot of reviews with damaged pieces so was nervous when the box's (3) showed up in pretty bad condition. There were very small marks on the wood but nothing I was really concerned about. Probably couldn't even find them again without really looking. I'd recommend this.
The good:
1. Good quality product both wood and hardware.
2. Functional design.
3. Shipping issues: several planks came with scratches on the paint
The bad:
1. Extremely lengthy to assemble (8hrs for the three pieces and I am good at this),
2. Missing assembly instructions,
3. Lacks design touches to help hide screws for example.
4. Dresser not deep enough to really store anything.

Bad directions
This bed was sooooo hard to assemble with directions. However, once we figured it out, we got it done. It looks very nice and my daughter loves it.

Low quality that smells like a chemical factory

Great bed for below $600
Strong bed easy to assemble great solution to save room. My daughter made a fort under the bed too
Some of the parts had cracks on the wood. Drill marks on shelf dirty. Looks used
