My husband had it put together in under an hour while I was putting our son to bed. And we finally were not sleeping on the mattress just on the floor anymore - hooray! It is a beautiful bed, was easy to assemble and I cant imagine anything happening to it as it seems well made. Style
We bought this frame for our guest bedroom. We set it up a few weeks ago and initially loved the frame. Was easy to assemble and looked amazing. Seemed extremely sturdy and a quality piece. We went into the guest bedroom earlier this week and noticed that one of the wood joints had sagged causing a huge crack to appear in the center of the side support. We were a little frustrated and disappointed with the defective piece but understand the nature of manufacturing. The real frustration came with our attempt to get a replacement piece. is requiring us to deconstruct the ENTIRE bed, somehow find a box big enough to fit everything in, and then have UPS pick up from our house with an adult present, but provides absolutely no scheduling options. Beyond frustrating and beyond unreasonable.
Im extremely happy with this log bed and how it turned out. I only gave it 4 stars but heres why. I would have loved for the corner posts to be an inch or two thicker in diameter. Id also love for the bed to be a little higher (more on that in a minute) and also it would be nice if the brackets were sculpted to better fit the intersecting pieces.
This is completely machine milled so theres no bits of pieces of bark or little knobs sticking out so if youre thinking of leaving it unfinished, you will probably change your mind when you see it. Its the color of a toothpick.
If youre budgeting the time, heres how long it took me working alone.
Day 1: Staining: 1 hour
Day 2: Sanding Poly first coat: 30 minutes
Day 3: Sanding Poly second coat: 30 minutes
Day 4: Assembly: 45 minutes
Assembly was easy. If you can put together Lincoln Logs you can do this. A rubber mallet is a really good idea. I did a queen size single handedly and may have been done in less time if I wasnt constantly trying to remove 4-legged onlookers from the room and if I had a helper. And if I was smarter.
The kit came with some big nails. I used a finish nailer instead. If I could do it over again I would have used mostly glue. I dont think that it needs that many nails that they included and its easy to damage the wood trying to hammer those in.
The bed is a bit low as other reviews have mentioned and that was actually what I wanted because I want to be able to sit at the end of the bed without sitting on the frame part. That said, this is really low. Not a problem for Roomba, dont worry. But to use with a box spring, it looks a little strange. Since I am using this for a guest bedroom, and also knowing what the mattress industry has become, I actually think I will come to like this height since a replacement mattress is probably going to be something that comes in a box and will be lower down.
As for the cracking that others have mentioned, I live in a lodge style timber frame home and I am familiar with the cracks (checking) since a lot of my beams have that. Its not a problem and its perfectly normal. There really isnt a way to avoid that in this species. It would have to be cut out of the corner of a much larger tree.
The bed is made in Canada from what looks like 25-30 year white cedar. It definitely looks like white cedar to me. Absolutely nothing looks like it came from China. Quality stuff. Easy to put together. Highly recommend. Queen bed was around 82 lbs and arrived by Fedex ground.
I have a ton of trees on my property and was contemplating cutting my own logs to make a bed but at this price it was a no brainer. Great for the money. good material

The bed came packed to protect. Even the styrofoam was in plastic which eliminates a bunch of little white specks everywhere. The instructions are super easy. I put it together by myself with no problem. The tools included are a nice touch although the little ratchet didnt always grab. It seems sturdy however, it has not been slept on. It does emit an odor but I suspect that will where off. So far very pleased ! Simply Perfect!
Like other reviewers Im a little skeptical about the center support beam, so Ill add some heft to it. Otherwise, this bed is beautiful, easy to put together and altogether a very worthwhile investment. Extremely happy!!
the actual height is lower than The product says It makes a huge difference; if you have a thick mattress, the back wont look high enough.
it would fit perfectly under my window, but now there is a big gap under the window and above the bed.

the actual height is lower than The product says It makes a huge difference; if you have a thick mattress, the back wont look high enough. it would fit perfectly under my window, but now there is a big gap under the window and above the bed.
