Who Knew Could Be So Good

I go through a lot of coffee makers. I have owned many fancy brands and many not/so/fancy. A couple of years ago, I got a beautiful coffee maker from , which was sleek, elegant, ultra/modern looking and aesthetically pleasing. It also made great coffee. The only problem was, after just eight weeks of light use, the machine died and I hate t throw it out. I am always on the lookout for new coffee makers, hoping to find the perfect coffee machine. Of all the brands Ive owned, Krups, Kitchen Aid, Bunn and even Westinghouse, but the one brand Ive always avoided was . was one of the first coffee makers on the market. Because it is so popular, I always thought it couldnt be very good. My philosophy is that anything that is too popular is schlocky. But when recently offered me s latest model, I thought Id try it. Im so glad I did! It has all the features Ive come to expect from a good coffee maker. A water filtration system, a gold tone basket, a programmable clock, a showerhead spout to completely cover the grounds and an auto shutoff. The auto shutoff is especially valuable; Im forever forgetting about the coffee machine and running out after a few cups, and Im always afraid of fire. This safety feature is one that every coffee maker should have. But the best part is the coffee. I never expected to produce such delicious, full/bodied coffee. Now I know makes good coffee. Who knew? This machine is definitely recommended and deserves the five star rating Ive assigned. Try it out; you wont be sorry.

    Carafe broken, filter missing

In spite of what looked like adequate and secure packaging, this arrived with a broken carafe. And as others have noted, it did not come with a reusable filter. Two rather major disappointments. For these reasons I have not yet been able to use it so I cannot comment on the quality of the coffee it makeswhich I would assume would be good. I was teally counting on the filter, though. Every coffee maker should have a reusable filter. There is no excuse for not providing one in todays world.

    Great for making coffee

This is my first Coffee product and Im very impressed. The coffee maker has a nice clean look to it and a couple simple buttons for making coffee now or later. It works great and comes with a specified measuring cup for determining how much coffee you want. Very simple yet useful. UPDATE: After using this for a couple of months, it is still a good product but it seems to always drip when I pour my coffee.which is a little annoying and did not happen with my old one. Changing from 5 star to 4 star.still pretty good overall.

DOES NOT COME WITH THE GOLD TONE REUSABLE FILTER

First off let me get the biggest issue out in the open because this was what I was most upset about/ THIS DID NOT COME WITH THE GOLDTONE REUSABLE FILTER. In fact, not only did it not come with it AS ADVERTISED ON THE PRODUCT PAGE, but the booklet clearly states that not all models come with the reusable filter. I felt completely misled by this. We are trying to be more conscious of the impact we have on the environment, and I was really excited that this was supposed to have a reusable coffee filter, but it did not. Now that thats out of the way, let me get to the rest of the facts. This coffee maker can brew up 12 cups. It is very sleek and stylish in design and is attractive for a coffee machine. It comes with a water filter and a measuring spoon. Brews the coffee quietly and quickly. After the coffee is brewed, it will tell you if it is fresh or how long since it was brewed (in 30 minute intervals) then automatically shuts off after 4 hours. It also automatically stops dripping coffee if you pull the carafe out. I received this item for free, but as of today it was listed at 78.40 which I felt was a little expensive for a slightly elevated basic coffee machine. Now had it come with the reusable filter as it was advertised, I would find the price point more palatable. But just by glancing at the other reviews I see that I am not the only one who was missing this key piece.

    Disappointing

Operates just fine, but final results are a much weaker coffee. 3 scoops of coffee for 2 cups of coffee versus 2 scoops in my previous maker makes a weaker final product.

Missing the gold tone filter. BUT.

Just one call to and 10 minutes later Wahlah! Problem resolved. Thank you for crediting me so I can get the filter. And Yes it should have come with the filter. Already made a pot and worked great. The coffee scoop worked great also. The coffee maker that I received is in excellent condition and all the seams look and feel smooth. The time since brew illumination is not super bright but easy to read. The brewed temperature is a tad to hot for me but still slurpable. Overall great product/experience made even better with support.

Design really makes life easier and carafe doesnt dribble!

This is the first coffee maker I have ever had that didnt dribble all over the place no matter how I pour the coffee. I cant even begin to tell you how wonderful that is for me. The shape of the carafe also helps me to pour it. I have my coffee maker to the left of the sink, which this model seems to be made for, because the gauge is on the right side, and the lid opens to the left. Speaking of lid, I really like being able to access the part that pumps the water out over the grounds. Previous models I have had in the past opened the grounds chamber and made cleaning all of the parts difficult if not impossible. The coffeemaker is even better looking in person than it is in the picture. I have a black/white and stainless kitchen so this matches my other appliances. The digital clock looks very cool and crisp, and is very easy to see. Also, the display band on the bottom that tells you how fresh it is not only helps ensure you have fresh coffee, but looks cool too. The included advanced water filter works very well and should last the average user a month. Replacements can be found . There may be cheaper options, but I have heard too many horror stories about rust, mold, etc, so I just plan on sticking with the authentic ones from . By the way, it helps to soak the carbon filter in some tap water for a few minutes before rinsing it and inserting it. Also, tilt/wiggle a little as you pop it into place to get any air out, just for good measure. The inclusion of the scoop is a nice angle, but most coffee drinkers already religiously measure out their favorite amount so changing to something new might be difficult.(It is growing on me, though!) Also what they call for is a little stronger than what I am used to. Speaking of measuring, I really appreciate the capacity of grounds. I like to add cinnamon and nutmeg to my coffee grounds in the fall and since it makes it difficult to get the coffee through, you risk it spilling out. When I tried it in this coffeemaker (1 tsp of cinnamon and a sprinkling of nutmeg) with 3 tbs of grounds it had no trouble handling it. Coffee tastes great and the coffeemaker looks very nice in my kitchen. Power cord is short for safety reasons, I assume, coming it at about 24 inches. Also, the ad states that it is 14.6 inches tall, but it comes in at about 12.75 inches tall. If you are concerned about counter/cabinet clearance, the top opens up an additional 7.5 inches higher, so keep that in mind. A full pot of coffee with two full scoops from the included scoop took 11 minutes and 14 seconds from start to completion beep. Coffee was 177 degrees F. (80.56C) Interruption feature is nice, but not flawless. Removing the carafe had about 4 big drops escape onto the hot plate, so consider that. It is nice to be able to interrupt it when you dont have time to wait. Coffee is a good strength regardless thanks to the soaking method it employs. One last thing is that mine did NOT come with the reusable coffee filter, so I had to use one I already had. I noticed in the manual that not all models come with it, but was confused since the ad does say it is included. Overall this is a very very good coffeemaker. Unlike other coffeemakers in the past, this one is easier to keep clean thanks to its hourglass profile. The treatment of grounds during brewing really does make an impact on good coffee, especially after having filtered the water. Good heat too/coffee was hot, tasted delicious, and not burnt. 5 caffeine charged stars for this excellent coffeemaker! It looks serious without being too costly, the finish helps keep it clean, it makes very good coffee, and employs methods to justify the price. I would recommend.

Does NOT come with the Gold tone REUSABLE filter!

I specifically ordered this pot because it says it comes with the gold tone reusable filter, and it clearly does not! I like the idea of the reusable filter because I am trying to be less wasteful everywhere I can be, and coffee filters (paper/toss away) are among the things I avoid buying. That said, the coffee pot seems to have some nice features, but seems a little cheaply made. The seams (on the back of the machine) are very visible on the machine, like they could open up at any time. Take away the fact that you can program it, and its just like any other ten dollar pot you can get at walmart, except this one is a bit more than 10. So all this combined I cant give more than two stars for this pot.
