The daybed and trundle parts and hardware arrive in three rather substantial boxes. They are large, heavy and awkward and I found it easiest to open the boxes carefully in the garage and carry the parts to the room for assembly. There were a few rubs here and there on the finish but not to a degree that takes away from the overall attractive appearance. The directions are well described. There are machined allen bolts that fit into embedded nuts in the furniture. You will need a helper to assemble the frame of the daybed itself, unless you want to rest the bigger panels on cardboard boxes or other support as you align the rear panel, side panels and front crossing frame. The trundle does not require assistance.
The main daybed is about 79 inches long and 39 inches wide on the inside where the mattress sits, which makes for a snug fit for the twin XL mattress. The trundle is standard twin sized.
There was one defective bolt, and a slight defect where the finish did not quite line up where the panels were attached but customer service was very helpful in quickly providing replacement bolts and a cherry stain pen to fill the slight line which was unfinished.
This is an attractive and solid piece of hardwood furniture which we will use for overnight guests and relatives.

I purchased it for a den to use as a couch but also to have for over night guests if needed. Its beautiful, sturdy and went together like a dream. My husband and son put it together without one complaint, issue or argument. Its not wobbly or cheap looking, its just sturdy and beautiful, even after a year of almost everyday use. I would highly recommend it and just did to a co-worker looking for a daybed. So happy with this purchase.

Love the bed! Its perfect for my 2year old toddlers room. Also love that if I need room for a sleepover guest I have the option to pull out the trundle with out having to take up extra space when not being used. Only reason I did not give it a full 5 stars is because it had a few minor imperfections/knicks on the bed frame we noticed when putting it together.
All in all though its the perfect bed for a kids room or guest bedroom. It was super easy to put together. And works well in smaller spaces/rooms.
Quality seems really good, shipping was fast, and assembly was pretty simple. Nothing was missing from the shipment, but be aware that it ships in TWO boxes, even there is no indication of that on the item description. So, you may have an instance where both boxes do not arrive on the same date.

Get a good mattress for the top.
Better than expected! Color is great, had it put together in less than 2 hours. Perfect side for our small guest room.
