I should say it was mostly easy to assemble. When you get to the outer mattress support bars, remember to leave a little slack when tightening the screws. This will make it easier to jiggle those side bars while positioning the center support bars so that you can get those screws into place. Then after every bar has its screws, go back and tighten everything so that you wont have to hear any squeaking from the frame later on.
Overall, I am happy with this purchase.
Beautiful frame, definitely not as solid as a good wooden frame but great for the price not the quietest frame if youre you know rocking it. But thats no problem since we live alone. Definitely thought the would be brighter but its a bit brassy. Still love it tho!
Bed came boxed and packed pretty securely. Heavy beast of a thing, so be sure to have some help. I screwed up big time ordering this bed, which is designed for a box spring. Seriously, who uses box springs anymore? Anyway, after doing a mass buy of new beds for my 3 kids and a guest room, I was so focused on looks and reviews mentioning sturdiness that I overlooked that important part.
Realizing this AFTER I unboxed it, having built 2 other platform canopy beds and noticing no steel s/rods my heart sunk. Refusing to go out to buy box springs for her foam mattress, off to furniture/mattress stores I went for s. No one carries them and I wasnt about to travel 50 miles to for their drop in s. Off to Home Depot I went, got twelve 53.8 boards cut and nylon rope to staple down each side to roll up the s in the future. Done! Crap, they dont drop in cause theres no support along the frame to hold the.
Went back to Home Depot, because NO ONE gets everything they need for the project the first time. Found 72 steel flat bars I could use as lips and center support for the s. Used Velcro in the underside to keep them in place and bam, now Im done. Now this bed, which was really sturdy and heavy, just got armored up as the s gave this more rigidity and weight. Its actually now more solid than my other daughters canopy beds.
Would buy again, but will likely never have to. If I did, it would have to be a platform version this time.
Love love love this bed. I assembled by myself in maybe two hours. I kept my box spring because I like a tall bed. Only complaint is the big white slickers on each post for the canopy pieces, it doesnt peel off cleanly and sticks out like a sore thumb. Great price and looks aming with lights wrapped around it.
I like the quality of the frame but its not the most sturdy ! you can tighten as much as youd like but it always feels a bit flimsy ! You get what you pay for though and its comparable to much more pricey ones ! I love it though .
I bought this bed to give my space a bit of a more modern and updated look and just wanted something different than a traditional headboard.
It is fairly easy to put together, I did it all by myself in about 1 1/2 hours. The pieces are well labeled and the instructions pretty easy to read. I tend to look and look and look again to make sure I am putting the right pieces together so that add extra time. Also, I havent taken off the main labels/stickers because they are very sticky and will likely leave leftover pieces on the poles. A stupid idea if you ask mebe prepared to peel off those labels with goo gone or something like that. They are placed on the top poles so you cant really hide them.
The final look of the bed is really beautiful. The color frame is not gaudy, but rather more of a modern matte , and very very pretty. The structure itself; however, is not very solid in terms of how strong each of the poles are. My kids constantly want to hold on to the top polls and act like they will hang or swing from it (and so do I!) but I guarantee you they will bend at the slightest tug!
I think the frame itself that the mattress sits on feels sturdy, as there are plenty of braces under neath that hold up the mattress, but again, they are thin poles and probably cant handle too much romping around on them!
Overall the bed looks beautiful and I think will hold up fairly well to normal bed wear and tear, ie the occasional jumping on the mattress if you dont weigh a ton or moving the frame around to a different part of the room. I dont think it would withstand constant any hardcore tugging on the frame itself. The overall value was great so it makes it worth it for the look.
