A little more firm than I'd like, but seems like it would soften up over time. The material is very soft, similar to suede/velvet. In pictures it looks purple hued, but in person does look like the picture on the listing. Easy to assemble, cats love it, too.
I read more reviews after I purchased, first the product came 3 weeks earlier than expected. Secondly they looked beautiful. I know other people said they were too small but my 6 ft 2 inch 250 Lbs husband sits in the chair and states its comfortable.
