This futon is actually cute and comfortable to hang out on. It does sit low, but I knew that. It would be possible to sleep on but probably not the most comfortable for a finicky sleeper
Angles were awkward in some places during assembly. Good for small spaces, but longer than most futons (a selling feature for me since Im 6 feet tall and its a perfect length for me). Sadly, it is not comfortable. They packed the arms inside a hidden compartment in the front cushions to reduce the size of the box, but it left this empty chasm in the bottom of the front cushions that they tried to offset with what seems like a spring-back material. As a couch, this causes a bow that pushes you forward. As a bed, the bow forces you to pick a side. Also when in bed position, there is a very hard wooden seam in the center. Side sleeping or switching sides causes this seam to jab you in the hip. Back sleeping requires that you strategically position your butt bone to avoid the seam. Ive tried with two mattress toppers and still found it uncomfortable. This is all a super bummer because it is a beautiful couch and I had very high hopes. I even thought the packaging of the box was brilliant until I saw what it did to the comfort.
This is a $300 piece of furniture. It is not super comfy - so if you are looking for a plop your lard butt down type of sofa...this is not it.
The material holds up well and its a sitting room piece.
If you need a living room piece - it works well - more than a few show binges have done well enough.
Update: After more than 2 months of regular use, feeling the wood frame directly underneath your backside or the coils get old VERY quickly.
This is a prop/staging/etc piece - something to be rarely used.
Do not purchase as a sofa youd want to be comfortable on. And certainly do not pay more than $300
This futon is a harder than I like for sitting, and even more so, for sleeping. I nevertheless gave it three stars because it is a nice-looking futon, and I love the persimmon-orange color. If you prefer firmer cushioning for your futon, I would recommend it, but if like me, your comfort level calls for something softer, this futon would not be for you, so keep looking.
The navy blue is less a dark navy and more a Jean color. It looks very deep dark blue online but is not that case in person. A little bummed about that but so it goes!
Took my husband all of 30 minutes to assemble. No rips, tears, and everything seems to be working as it should. Is super comfortable? no.... But I wasnt expecting it to be. Prior to this couch we had a very large, cushy, sectional but it took up our entire living room and were getting ready to move into a small home. So I wanted something smaller, functional, and to be honest not super comfortable (to keep us and others from laying on the couch all day, easy to do in quarantine) lol. Its convenient if someone needs to stay the night but no one is gonna wanna sleep multiple nights on this.
I like this couch, it meets the requirements I need it for, but if youre trying to buy a comfortable mid century modern sofa to lounge on, this aint the one.
This is a very good item for the price. This is a very attractive futon and looks like a much more expensive than the price. We have not used is as a bed yet, but it is a great couch. I am 5 9 and can lay between the bolsters. If you are taller that 5 9 not sure this would work for you. It is very easy to assemble. You will find the end bolsters zipped up on the bottom side of each couch seat. Highly recommend putting gliders on the bottom of each leg including the 2 in the middle to allow easy sliding across carpet. Without gliders, it can be a little difficult for one person to move the couch on carpet. With the gliders, the couch can easily be moved by one person and the legs are less apt to buckle under.
This futon is perfect for my office! We wanted something small that would be useful as extra sleeping arrangements if necessary and this fits perfectly and is so cute. I researched options for so long and constantly came across this sofa as one of the only more affordable futons, and finally bit the bullet and bought it. Im so glad I did! Its more comfortable than youd expect to sit on, though I wouldnt love it as our main couch. Its perfect for what we are using it for. TBD how comfortable it is to sleep on (my dogs love sleeping on it so far though).
