Very sturdy L shaped desk with a million little details!!!!Lol Not super hard to put together, very sturdy. My daughter Loves it!!!! Perfect for my needs.
After nearly two hours effort by myself, I have put these pieces into a desk. Well done! It looks nice and functional but when I try to do typing, it shakes. I have to find some pad to hold it against the wall to make it sturdy. Another shortage is the width, I am unable to put a laptop and A4 notebook in a line in front of me. good buy!
Desk is good so far. Assembly was okay but the universal tool got worn down too easily and we had to struggle to get the remaining screw in right. Decent size as well. I would buy again!
Firstly, let me state my reason for buying this particular desk. Im in the middle of certification training for the career I want to be in. That career (and training) requires that I have 3 large spiral/bound books accessible at all times near my computer. So I needed the space for a 17 Laptop and THREE 9x12ish code books.
It accomplishes that, with room for a photo, my Creative brand round speakers, desk organizer, LED desk lamp, Alexa and various small decorations. In this regard, I have ZERO complaints.
PROS:
/ Plenty of surface space without taking up a significant portion of floor space.
/ Truly easy assembly (ESPECIALLY if youre no stranger to Assemble At Home furniture).
/ Reasonable durability for what its made of, most in the same class are far less durable.
/ Attractive, in/style wood finish look (I was actually able to find a rolling shelf unit in the same finish).
/ Lightweight, so its very easy to move this desk without disassembling if you have an extra pair of hands (cumbersome shape, not single/mover friendly).
/ Repositionable Monitor shelf (I use it for Alexa and my lamp).
/ Small desk drawer ideal for pens, a notepad, sticky notes, etc.
CONS:
/ I am CHRONICALLY bashing my knees against the support posts. I keep my laptop at the curved/rounded edge because it works best for my book layout, but that means my 5 9 tall self had to put bumper guards on the (NECESSARY, Im not saying it shouldnt have them because it stabilizes the desk and supports weight) support posts.
/ Its not, and nor will this type of material EVER BE, as solid and sturdy as wood plank desks. Its also lightweight, so that factors in. Expect some wobbles. I wouldnt recommend this, or anything in its class, for anyone requiring significant weight bearing ability (i.e. multiple towers, heavy screens, stacks of heavy textbooks, etc).
/ The faux wood finish has managed to rub off onto my code books covers after a few months of shifting them around. Id have gotten something to cover the desk or line it had I known this would be an issue.
/ While the drawer is perfect for casual, lightweight office supplies, it has a max load of about 2/3 lbs. Thats not a whole lot if you tend to have A LOT of stationary items, or wanted the drawer for multiple heavier items like external drives, manual/code reference books, etc.
All in all, its a good desk for its price and the materials its made of. Save yourself frustration and be reasonable with your expectations for inexpensive items that get delivered to your door by contract services. If youre looking for something more, then your best bet is coughing up the bucks and going to an actual furniture store. Nice size.
Pros: the desk was pretty easy to assemble. Once assembled its mostly stable. And of course, being inexpensive.
Cons: some parts arent well cut, which makes for a less than perfect assembly. My main peeve is that the raised platform / for a monitor, or a laptop / is a clear afterthought. The main desk boards do not come with holes drilled in them for you to easily screw into / the most I can say is I have one hole, of the 4 that the support beams suggest should be there. So, its on me to do this myself whenever I can get the tools needed (and use other things like duct tape in the meanwhile).
So, maybe 3.5/4 stars out of 5. Not bad, and cheap, and stable enough that youre probably fine and if you need a more solid setup you can modify or buy a different desk. If youre looking for a way to have both a sitdown AND standing desk option though, or something otherwise supportive of ergonomic health, buy something in addition or something else for that. Overpriced a bit.
