From start to finish it took me an hour and a half to assemble the main frame on my own using the Allen key and little wrench that came with the set. The hardest part was getting the headboard and long part of the frame connected at the first corner, once that was all set it was smooth sailing.
The pieces packed in individual bags do have some iron dust in them, the dust will likely be rusted from transport, but I just wiped it off with a clorox wipe and was good to go.
Trundle comes fully assembled, unpacking it from the cardboard bumper was a bit of a challenge, but all good, just had to put come elbow grease to rip it. It is easier to have two people to pinch the bar to pop the trundle up, it is definitely more of a production if one person is trying to get the trundle to pop up bc you have to pinch at both ends instead of the middle of the bar.
I have two 8 memory foam mattresses on the frames and there is definitely room for probably a 10 or a mattress topper. Everything is nice!
I needed to put up family members for the holiday but I dont have a big house. This trundle bed was perfect for the occasion. The bottom pull out bed fit a thick mattress along with a 1 inch memory foam topper (so a good 10/11 inches thickness). The bottom trundle is not attached to the top bed frame but pops up to the same height as the top bed. It was a bit cumbersome to lift it up when weighted with the mattress as the lift springs needed a bit of coaxing, but once in place, the bed is very stable and secure. No chance of collapse. My sister liked the fact that she and her husband were together but being separate beds, she was not at all bothered when he had to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Assembly was easy, the trundle comes pre/assembled. The top bed and frame took some time as there are many cross pieces to hold the mattress but it is easy. very sturdy and stylish
This bed is extremely sturdy. I liked it since it had no side rails making it easier to get out when opened. Great bed frame. It is sturdy and looks beautiful
Unfortunately when the bed arrived it was missing one bolt and nut needed to attach the slats to the frame and two of the corner plastic caps were broken. Im not sure how I can get those replaced but once I have those I would rate this bed with five stars. Other than the missing parts the bed is great. Went together easily

Great but missing/ broken parts

I recommend using your own tools.
Pretty easy to assemble, if you use your own tools and not the ones they send in the package. Once I switched to better tools it was easy. I love it.
