This sturdy pen turned out to be very useful for me. I have two female rats, one who comes when called and the other who doesnt. The one who doesnt is also fatter and cant climb out of this pen, although the other girl can. I guess its mainly a ferret pen so I wasnt sure if it would work for the ratties, but in my particular situation it works great. The bars are too close together for the girls to either slip through or get their heads stuck. All in all I would recommend this both as a playpen for ferrets OR rats, especially if your rats are on the large, fat side! :)
We cant let our ferrets run loose in the house - too many dangers - so this is a great alternative. We leave it hooked to the cage during the day so they can come and go as they please. We switch out the toys so that they dont get bored with it.
Product is sturdy and well-constructed, easy to set up and plenty of room for my chinchilla to exercise safely. I would recommend this product to others.
This pen withheld inside and outside use. It held rabbits, puppies, ferretts, and kittens ( not all at once). I have had this pen for almost a year. The hooks unfortuanetly did start breaking but tie downs work to fix it. I loved it. The only problem I had was keeping the momma dog out of the pen with the pups.
The playpen is great. It shipped faster than the bottom, fitted cover (sold seperately) so Ive had it on my kitchen floor to let my two fuzzies (Ferrets) out to play. I no longer have to follow them around the house (which they still managed to sneak a few poops that Ive only just found). Plenty of room for two fuzzies, a litter pan, food/water, a toy and a blankekt. They have tried to jump the bars and the long, vertical slats prevent them from finding purchase. They cant get out. Gives them more space to play, sleep or whatever outside of their cage. Nice. I am 52, 140lbs, athletic build (included for dimension purposes), and I can fit in there with my son (55lb child) and our two fuzzies.
I had looked at other larger pens that I could also use to take my cats (and ferrets) outside with. Many reviews stated that the bars were too far apart and their ferrets got out. So I went with the one that was made with ferrets in mind and am not disappointed.
Flimsy construction, easy for small dogs to open up the side and let themself out. Not recommended for small dogs, works o.k. for my baby rabbits to play in the yard in or as a temporary gate over a large door opening.
I bought this for an exercise yard for our Guinea pig. I was afraid it would be too small. Its the perfect size for him, gives him lots of room to run and keeps him safe from our dog and our smaller grandchildren. Very easy to set up or take down.
Seriously, mine cannot escape from this - and thats a first! He can usually ninja his way out of anything, but this pen keeps him secure, and our house safe from him.
I especially like that you can maneuver it into any shape you want, its conforming to our kitchen pretty well.
The only con I can think of is that its kind of difficult to hook together without both hands and some concentration. But once you get used to it, it gets easier. Not enough to take away a star, IMO.
This pen is great. I bought one two years ago and it has saved me numerous times with traveling, cleaning and for playtime when I cant watch 100%. There ARE ways for the ferrets to escape this, but I still gave it 5 stars because mine arent smart enough unless Im sitting in there with them and they decide to climb up my back and take a leap of faith.
Now that our fuzz family has increased to 5, Im going to order another to expand the play space. Our new house isnt ferret proofed so two will be MORE than enough room as a play space for 5, a litter box, some blankets, food/water, and myself.
