I have had this for a couple of years now. It still works great. This was set up year around outside and no problems.

    BOTTOM NOT INCLUDED, otherwise good

DOES NOT COME WITH MAT (RED BOTTOM), despite that being in the picture. Otherwise, it works well - our ferrets have not been able to escape this playpen, unlike the previous one we purchased which was for small animals generally. Its easy to set up and put away.

I can finally contain my escape artist!

My escape artist Ferret cannot climb out of this pen. Though he really tries.

A great buy for my chinchilla

I was looking for a safe, yet functionable play pen for my chinchilla and this is the best one I found. I would say there are more pros than cons and the only cons that I could think of is if your chinchilla wall jumps they could possibly get stuck hanging in the bars like mine did. Luckily no injury occurred from this but it is a possibility. Also it is possible for them to jump over it but mine never has since I keep her occupied when she is out playing. Now for the pros, for one its huge! Much bigger than I thought it would be, and thats great. I bought an extension pack as well for it to make it even bigger but its not needed and multiple people could even go in the pen as well and even have enough leg room to stretch out fully. Another pro is the bar spacing, my chinchilla can not go through the bars since they are less than 1 apart. For the money it is a great buy, and sturdy as well. Just monitor your pet when they are playing to make sure they are safe.

Yes some ferrets can escape this pen

This is a very large pen with lots of room for your ferrets to play in. However, make no mistake, some ferrets can and will jump out of this pen. We have 3 and 2 of them figured out how to jump and climb out of the pen in about 3 days. (I modified it by hanging 1pvs pipe pieces from each panel with zip ties, They now cannot get out and over the pipes at the top of the cage. They should taper the top of this pen inwards so the climbing ferret cannot make it over the top. But it is worth the money(im sure some smaller or fatter(lol) ferrets wont be able to jump high enough to climb out

Great pen for a small animal

This is my review for the Small Animal Play Pen. We bought two of these actually to put together to make a large play yard for our rabbit. What I did not expect when we bought these is how heavy and sturdy they would be. I am not say in any way saying that they are heavy in a negative way. What I am saying is just the opposite, they are a very nice quality. They work great for containing our rabbit (although if the only part latched is the bottom hook, he can easily unhook that and get out. When all three are latched, he is stuck inside. When our rabbit stands up against the pen, it doesnt really move. I am not sure what it would be like for an animal that weighs a lot more than he does. One of my favorite things about this play yard is that it folds up accordion style. For us this is a huge necessity so that we can move part of it out of the way when we are not using it. When folded up it is a little heavy but not so heavy that I cant carry it. We could not be more pleased with this play yard. We use it all day everyday with our rabbit. When we travel and board our rabbit, we take the pens with us and use them there as well. The picture I included gives you an idea of what the pen looks like. This is two pens connected but one is folded up part of the way.

My ferrets love it! (Updated as of 1-5-16.)

I just set this up, so if my opinion changes Ill update. As it stands, I LOVE this playpen for my ferrets. I can angle it however I want, and it gives them plenty of play space. They are currently frolicking about in it with gusto. I debated ordering a cheaper playpen, as the price seemed a bit steep but Im glad I went for it. Very pleased. Five stars! UPDATE March 10, 2015: Well, the awesomeness of this pen was lessened tonight. When my ferrets were done playing, I began to fold it to put it away for the night and two of the connecting metal hooks that hold the panels together just snapped. I ordered this playpen on February 27th; it is now March 10th. Fortunately, s incredible return policy has another pen on the way to me as I return this broken one. I temporarily fixed the panel with zip ties until I receive the new one so that my fur babies are not without a pen. I will update this review if I have any further issues with the craftsmanship of the pen. Still leaving it at five stars with the hopes this was a fluke. Second Update: January 5, 2016 Well, one of the welds has again snapped. I discovered this because one of my particularly crafty fuzzies climbed up my leg as I was at my desk working when he had been in his pen moments before. I looked and sure enough, there was a broken weld and one of the bars had been nudged aside, granting leeway for escape. Good thing Diglet loves to spend time with me or he might have gone missing. I fixed the bar with a zip tie (I will solder it in the near future) and will take to checking the bars for integrity before letting my fuzzies out to romp. Quite frustrating. I am knocking off a star. I have been wanting a second pen to add on to the first so that I can have a whole ferret proof room, but Im on the fence as to whether I want to give this particular model another try. Ill continue to update this if things go awry further and/or I decide to purchase a second.

    Perfect pen!

My daughter uses this for her rats. Works perfectly. Not too big, not too small.
