As noted elsewhere, this is a security case to keep your weapons out of unauthorized hands, rather than a fire safe. That being said, it is well-built for its intended purpose.
The case came well-padded in its box, with foam on all sides, including top and bottom. One corner did have a very, very minor dent and there were some minor scuff/scratch marks in a few areas, but overall in good shape.
It is heavy, but not so heavy that I couldnt move it by myself, although I did have my wife stabilize the top while getting it up our stairway.
The supplied anchor bolts did not work for me, so I replaced them with heavy duty expanding ones from the hardware store. They will need to be the type where the screw/bolt is removable once the anchor is in place. You will also need new large washers to fit the new anchors.
Mine was a numeric keypad/key model, not the biometric one. Resetting the factory keypad code was easy and well explained. Reopening it was not clear at first, but after re-reading the instructions, when entering the unlock code, you need to add the A or B to complete the unlocking process.
The overall size is good, but the barrel rest is a little high for an AR-15. I had to slide the rest to the bottom of its adjustment, extend my stock to its full length and cut a piece of the thickest packing foam to go under the butt to have the rifle fit well.
Being all black inside, interior visibility is very poor, particularly once installed in a closet. I plan to install a stick on puck style light to make it easier to find things once the safe is opened. Alternatively, make sure you have a flashlight waiting on top of the safe.
Overall, Im very pleased with this and if ever in need of another one, would gladly repurchase this product.
