This is a gun cabinet, not a gun safe. The front door is double wall, but the sides and back are just single thickness. Reminds me of school lockers, except with a heavy looking front door. That said, it is more than adequate for storing firearms and ammunition away from curious kids and a quick grab thief. I am suspect of the main locking mechanism that is made of plastic. Seems a thief could quickly destroy the plastic mechanism and gain access. Initial opening and setting the code into the locking mechanism was quick and easy. The barrel rack is just a piece of high density foam that slides up and down on steel tracks. Kind of flimsy, but without heavy or rough use should last. The extra shelf is a plus, and was the main reason I chose this unit. It was the only one I could find with the added storage. The cabinet came very well packaged and even though the outside box was pretty beat up, the unit was not damaged. Overall, I received exactly what I expected. A lockable space to store firearms, accessories and ammunition. Nothing fancy and will not stand-up to a knowledgeable thief with time. I gave 5-stars because the unit was accurately described, very well packaged and will serve my intended purpose.
