A great, comfortable couch, but hard to assemble for beginners
This couch is really comfortable and super convenient to sit on and use. After assembly, its been a pleasure to have. But assembly was pretty irritating; in part because there were no instructions. You dont have to be a master carpenter to put it together, but if youre not used to it then itll take a while to figure out how all the pieces/screws go together. So here are some important things to know before you buy and some steps for assembly:
1. There will be two separate boxes shipped. One of the boxes is 100 pounds and the other is 60 pounds. So itll be heavy! Make sure you have two healthy adults that can carry the boxes (especially if there are stairs involved). Itll be tough for sure
2. Before starting, check under every couch section for extra parts. The underside is attached with Velcro and will come off to reveal pillows, screws, and legs.
3. Dont put on the legs until the end! I read that in a previous comment, but ignored it cause I thought I knew betterI definitely paid the price.
4. Start by putting the two biggest couch pieces on their sides, next to each other (they form the main L shape of the couch). Youll see holes where they meet. Youll need to rip away cloth underneath to get to those holes. Thatll require a bit of force, so dont be shy.
5. I guess most people must know this, but in case youre like me, you need to put one of the long screws through a hole so a portion of it sticks out on either side, which you can access from under each section. Then you put one of the skinny circle plates and one of the small circle donuts on both sides, and tighten them as much as you can so the screw will stay in place.
6. After doing that for all the holes connecting the two main sections, do the same for the two armrests on the sides. The cloth for the armrests is actually stapled in, so I had to rip it out from the staples to put the screws together. Not sure how else to put them together.
7. After you have the two main sections plus the armrests together, you can put on all the legs, turn it upright, and add the pillows. Theres just one other section of the couch that also has legs, but doesnt require any screws. You can move that section around as needed.
All in all, took me about 3 hours to put together (and an aching back). I wish there were instructions that came with the couch and easier ways to put the pieces together, hence the 1 star subtraction. But Its been a week now and Im really happy using the couch every day.
Good luck! Awesome!
