These shelves are great. I got four 16 inch ones and they look perfect in the corner of my room. They are sturdy and solid. But I have 4 points of criticism:
-No installation instructions were included in packaging, instead I had to come back to this page to read them. Even then, I think we ended up youtubing the instructions.
-The drill bit size (I think 1/8 inch?) that was recommended to drill the holes was too small. We used a 1/4 inch bit and it worked much better.
-My biggest disappointment is that the color is not quite as advertised. I got the nautre color, which in the photos looks like a bright oak, but in reality is more of a muted natural wood look commonly popular in farmhouse decor. If I had farmhouse style Id be happy, but I dont. I really wanted the brighter, lighter color to complement my white walls. I realized after receiving the shelves that the advertised photos had been edited/brightened. Maybe someday Ill refinish them to get the look I want.
-Finally, in the advertised photos, you can flip the shelves either way (so that the wood strips where the screws go can either be on the bottom of the shelf or the top). But in reality, you cant flip it so the strips are on top, because there are additional screws connecting the strips to the main shelf that are visible/ugly. These screws are not pictured in the sample photos in which the strips are on top, either because they were edited out or a different product was photographed.
Nice but misleading from the photos
