There are no arms on this, the things in the images are just very small flat leathery pillows that do not attach in anyway to the futon. So they kind of just slide around the leather surface like a penguin on ice. The futon itself sits maybe 5/6 inches off the ground with the legs. And feels like its being held together with Facebook likes. Wouldnt recommend. Wish I could get my money back.
