Very sturdy bed, but changing sheets will be difficult and ladder steps will need cushioning.
We needed this type of bed so that our daughter could have more usable space in her bedroom. There are two downsides to this bed that I would like to mention. The first issue is changing the sheets. The mattress fits in the top section quite snugly and it is hard to get the fitted sheet to fit over the mattress which is against the railing, plus I had to climb up there to do this, so be prepared to do some climbing. And this brings up the second issue, the ladder. The ladder is made up of square tubing that is not at all comfortable in bare feet, so unless you plan on wearing shoes to climb into bed each night, I suggest you buy a pool noodle, slice it down the middle and cut into four, 18 lengths so that you can put one section on each step of the ladder and use a zip tie on each end to secure it in place. I originally used the foam tubing that you would use to insulate your water pipes from freezing, but that foam cant take the daily climbing and started to tear after a couple of weeks.
