A lot of reviews about slat quality and not enough of them. I totally agree, which is why I took one of the slats to my local hardware store and had them cut me 14 more, cost me 20. But now each mattress is supported by 14 slats and is far more sturdy. I hopped my fat self on there (230lbs) and bounced a little, no issues whatsoever. If it can hold me it can hold my kids for sure. I also have a 11in thick Avocado mattress that weighs 76lbs. This does cause issues with the guard rail, so what do I do? Buy a extra guard rail board and attach that to the existing guard rails for a nice sturdy safe bed.
The one thing I am a bit worried about is that the beds are only attached to each other with a flimsy wood peg that goes from the top of the bottom bed posts about 3in into the bottom of the top bed posts. I have a few ideas on how to secure that a bit better but havent done that yet.
Overall not bad, just needs a little modification for support and high mattress. Good price.
A little modification goes a long way.
