So, the max weight limit of 250lbs doesn't affect my enjoyment of these chairs. Just know it is there and probably realistic. These are nicely padded to sit on and have a nice high back. The wood is just white wood so that is where the weight limit comes from. The legs are not completely BLACK. They are a lighter shade that has a hint of brown. I was looking for black, but its a small point that they aren't perfect dark black. They still look great with my table.
