Damaged (not from shipping), but seller did the right thing.
This items was delivered when we were not home and was left on our doorstep. There are few dents in the box, but the box is not punctured or ripped and it doesnt look like shipping caused any damage.
However, the bottom shelf is cracked on the underside in two locations. Also, one of the knots on the top shrank and fell out so not there is a whole about the size of a dime on the top.
Okay, damage happens and these rustic pieces have knots that are not always easy to stabilize, we get it, not a problem, well just return it and order another one. However, the return label instructions say we have to pay for return shipping!!! We have quote and its over $100 - thats 40% of the cost of the item - thats nuts!!
So, I applied some wood glue to the cracked area and got out my brad nailer and drove a couple of brads into to hold it until the glue dries. Once the glue was dry, I put it together to see how it looks and to see if the cracked shelf has an impact. The table took a little more effort to assemble because it is slightly warped which also caused it to wobble a little. I was able to compensate for the wobble with a felt leg pad and it looks okay.
I contacted the seller and they responded right away. They agreed the shipping was excessive and offered to let me keep the broken one and they would send another at no cost. I told them that I was able to fix all of the issues and that I would prefer to keep it so no need to send a new one. Frankly, I was happy they responded and made the offer - because of that, Im going to live with it as is because the table is still very serviceable and looks pretty good.
