This bed is solid for the money! It took a couple of hours to put together with 3 people, most of the time spent figuring out which screws went where as they were closely sizedhaving a 3rd person really helps when putting the large pieces together (2 to hold it and 1 to fasten it together). I would have given it 5 stars except for the not liking the ladder, it is squared off which helps, however, it is so vertical it may be hard for some people to climb / will probably just take some getting used to. We also ended up putting in an 8 mattress which still left about 4 inches of rail all around / we are using this for a college student so no worries about really falling off at night.
