I ordered two of these beds for my sons (ages 4 and 15) and I am happy with them. They were very easy to put together. The color is very dark--almost black which works great for the decor in my boys room. You actually don't even see much of the bed at all if you don't tuck in the comforter. The beds look nice, but I'm wondering how they will stand the test of time...FYI: the quality is OK, and pretty much consistent with any less-expensive, put-it-together-yourself furniture, but the drawer bottoms are on the flimsy side. They are fine for clothes, but I wouldn't put anything too heavy in them (lots of books, etc.). The dowels are made of plastic, not wood, and so are the drawer guides. Also, the boards that the mattress sits on top of are questionable...They seem a bit flimsy as well. I think they will be just fine for sleeping on, but if you have a child who likes to jump on beds, or tends to be on the destructive side, I'm not sure I would recommend this product. I also wouldn't recommend this product for an adult who is very large because I'm not sure the bed would hold up.
UPDATE: It has been almost 3 years now, and these beds are still going strong. We haven't had an ounce of trouble with them. They've even survived 2 moves (one of which was an 800 mile move). The only con we've had: The drawer handles are made out of metal, and they are square. It doesn't feel good when you accidentally hit your leg on them! Either find different handles or don't put them on at all. Other than this, these beds have been fantastic. Again...probably not great for a heavy person, or wild child!
Great bed for a mild child or small adult.
