I just finish assembling this bed. It took me a couple of afternoons to put it together. Some hardware pieces were missing, so I ran to my local hardware store and picked it up. I did not want to go through the channel if customer service.
It was not easy to build, pieces were not labled. I had to look at pictures in the manual to figure out which is which. Hard ware came in four packs and they were labeled, but labeling was confusing and in some cases inaccurate, so you have to make sense of which is which.
We bought an 18in mattress and it leaves a few inching for the rail. For younger kids I recommend a 10in mattress .
My 11 yo loveed it. It is definitely a space saver. She loveed the hiding/reading corner Under the bed.
The only thing I do not like is that it can go in one direction. You can not put the ladder on the left for example
Space savor and sturdy.
