I have been eyeing this table for months after I first found it on and finally I pulled the trigger.
Unfortunately, I have a mixed opinion of it. It looks nice once assembled. I love the faux distressed look to it, which makes it look like something Ive owned for years. Its a great size and can work as a hallway table for me, but Im currently using it under my wall/mounted TV for accessories (and to block my dog from freaking out and jumping at the TV when he sees another dog on there).
Assembly was pretty easy / the top and drawers all come pre/assembled. You simply have to screw the four legs in place and the bottom shelf. After tightening 12 screws, youre done.
Now the bad. For starters, its VERY heavy. It arrived in a box that felt like it weighs a hefty 90/100 lbs or more. The UPS guy who left it on my porch was so worn out by delivering it that he literally left 2 other packages for neighbors SEVERAL DOORS DOWN on my porch as punishment for me ordering it. Prime delivery at its finest!
But the problem with this heavy box is that the carrier doesnt care what it bangs against. The corners were smashed in, there were holes in the box here and there, etc. When assembled, I noticed the FRONT corner of the table was crushed in. Because of the distressed look of the piece, you dont see it unless youre looking for it. But Im disappointed by this fact. Shipping it back isnt going to happen / its too heavy. So youd better hope and pray that you get one that isnt damaged (perhaps hope that uses a different carrier other than UPS in your area). Look at the other reviews, many people have complained of it arriving with damage. Its true. I have no doubt its more likely than not to arrive with damage.
Lastly, its a Chinese piece. The instructions make this pretty clear. Furniture sounds so American! Nope. Not this piece. It may be heavy, and it may last a while, but clearly not solid wood (I can tell where the corner is smashed in). The majority of the product is compressed fiberboard with a faux wood facade on it / a beautiful Chinese construction.
Do I like how the piece looks? Absolutely! I love the style. However, I dont like how its boxed, the likelihood of damage, and the Chinese fiberboard construction. If I had to do it all over again, Id rather have gone to my local furniture store for a similar sofa table that is solid wood and paid a little more money / and it wouldnt be much more, as this piece is already a little pricey for what youre getting.
