It was fairly easy to assemble. Took a few hours with all the pieces but not difficult. One person can do the job. However, it will take 2 people to put the bunk bed on top. In order to maximize head room on the bottom bed, get a mattress thats 6 inches thick. We use both 6 inch memory mattress for full and twin and they work well. You can also reinforce the bottom bunk with more slats if you like. Looks great and my kids love it.
