Lots of parts, but assembly was fairly easy. The instructions are adequate with little wording and lots of pictures. The bed itself is very solid and quite. One important note though, this bed is fairly small, the headboard is only 37 high. If you put a box springs and a fat mattress on it you won't see much of the headboard. But, if your looking for a nice little platform bed this is a good choice.
