The item was well packed. The item is heavy and bulky, and arrived with some damage to the packaging, but once I opened the box, i was pleasantly surprised at how well the pieces were packaged. Besides the usual styrofoam, they also used 1/4 inch backboard all the way around the edges to give it extra protection. Not a scratch on the actual pieces of furniture.
It was relatively easy to assemble and the instructions were better than average. There was only two or three times I had to figure out what I was suppose to do. And at the end, when placing the stickers over screws to camouflage them, I again was pleasantly surprised to find the stickers were the same color and grain as the stand. Other times, you find the sticker is only the same color. This had the grain also printed, so if you lined it up right, it blends perfectly. .recommend
