I read the reviews before purchasing and I was alittle concerned about assembly because numerous people had problems with it. However, assembly was no problem. It is pictorial so if you understand pictures, you'll be fine. Everything is labeled with numbers that correlate to the pictures and is easy to follow. It is particle board as opposed to real wood, but it's what you should expect at this price point. It looks very nice and is a good size so I really have no complaints. It is exactly what I needed for my entryway and organized all of my keys, mail and papers.
