We have recently purchased a house and I did not have a mud room area before. I wanted a place to hang coats and shoe storage. This fit the bill, and the reviews were ok. Definitely the single instruction sheet is lacking and small print, so with bad eyes it is kind of hard to read which parts are which on the diagram. Figured it out through some trial and error and some frustration, but I am happy with it. It is sturdy and fits perfect in my hallway nook. I did not care for the brown suede like material, so I recovered it with a staple gun (you could even probably use a glue gun as long as you glue before you screw the seat down). At our old house, we had a couple floor to ceiling curtains that I had to cut in half and sew to fit in a window for the laundry room. I just happened to have enough in the bottom part of the curtain to cover the bench, so now it ties in with the laundry room. With as inexpensive as this bench is, it would be worth the couple yards of fabric to customize it. I think a black and white chevron pattern would make it look sleek and modern, or your favorite sports team fabric, or even a vinyl shower curtain with a cool pattern if you live where it snows for the ability to wipe the seat down.
