    comfortable at a reasonable price

Functional, comfortable at a reasonable price. Pros: (1) It seems sturdy and able to handle large guys. Im 63 tall and #240, well within the chairs weight rating. The seat is comfortable and wide. The arm rests are not adjustable though they provide good support. (2) The controls are easy to operate. A lever on the left side is a tilt locking mechanism. I like that you can lean back in the chair and lock the back up at the angle you desire. The right side lever operates as a typical pneumatic lift. There is also a knob you can turn on the right side that the assembly manual said controlled the tilt tension. On my chair it had no effect on tilt but did adjust for adjustable firmness in the lumbar part of the chair. (3) It is very attractive. The faux leather is a rich brown and has attractive stitching. I also like that the star-base is wood rather than chrome or plastic. Cons: (1) This is a heavy beast! The assembly is fairly simple and straightforward consisting of three main pieces, the base, seat bottom, and seat back. It is very heavy however, and though I was able to assemble the chair myself, it did take a bit of strength. Having a second set of arms would have been most helpful in attaching the seat back to the seat bottom. (2) Though it didnt bother me, as noted above, the knob on the right side of the chair while described as controlling the tilt tension, instead controlled the firmness in the lumbar part of the seat back. (3) It takes a bit of strength patience when screwing in the hex bolts which attach the arms to the chair. There is a washer on each bolt and you have to really apply a great deal of pressure to get the threads on the bolt to align and catch the internal threading on the chair holes. (4) The tolerances and fit are on the sloppy side, and you have to do a little bending to line up the holes for the bolts. Additionally, the threading on the holes drilled into the chair seemed a bit off, almost as if they were partially stripped. It would feel like the bolts were tightening down and then would loosen up again if you continued to turn. Makes me wonder if they wont strip out after a while or loosen up. This loose fitting may have accounted for some of the reviews noting a wobble. I was able to secure the parts together so that I dont have wobble as an issue. (5) Though its pretty, the leather is very thin and at this price point frankly, I wouldnt expect it to hold up as well as real cowhide would hold up. Also, the painted wood base did come with some minor nicks. Overall, I do find this to be an attractive and comfortable chair.
