After reading all the reviews, I purchased this item. I agree with most of the comments that it takes about 4 hours to put together. I got this about a month after my last chemo treatment and I am not a physically active person, but I was able to put this thing together mysel It was very heavy and I took the advice in the reviews and assembled in the room where it would be used. I bought a 6 inch futon and only use it to sleep on but I would recommend a 4 or 5 inch futon because it is too hard to get back to a seating position with the 6 inch. The top bunk is definitely too close to the ceiling for an adult to sleep. The ladders hurt my feet when I tried to climb up to the top bunk so I bought a 6 foot ladder to use. Here is the biggest problem, it wobbles and the bolts that hold the entire bed together are coming loos I had to re/tighten every bolt on all corners of the top and botto I am going to contact the company to find out what I can do to make sure it doesnt fall apart Unless someone has an idea of how to keep it secure, I dont recommend this item and especially not for kid
