After narrowing down the options we chose this stool because the seat cushion for our other choice was reported to flatten too easily, reducing comfort when sitting for any length of time. This one definitely does not have that problem. It is stylish, well made, and comfortable, where my wife is using it to sit at a high table rather than stand to do her work. Assembly is simple, just four supplied screws and wrench to attach the seat to the mounting post. The pneumatic lift mechanism slots into the base To complete the assembly you simply drop the now assembled top onto the lift. The footrest/lift ring is welded to the post so no assembly is required for it.
One question I had was could the base damage hardwood or vinyl flooring. Im pretty sure thats unlikely since the circular metal bottom of the base has a substantial plastic ring on the underside that slightly lifts the metal bottom to keep it from contacting the floor. Much better than expected
