Picked up this safe, plugged in the supplied batteries and set the user code. After approx 5 mins of use, the control panel went dark. Inspected the batteries in the box and one of them (dont recognize the brand, something out of China) had started bulging. I replaced the batteries but the control panel is permanently fried and wont come on at all anymore. I suspect that the bad/cheap batteries supplied in the safe box caused an internal fault or short circuit which friend the circuit board, rendering it useless. Apparently there are no fuses protecting the control panel from a current surge!
