This bed is good overall, except the steps are placed in a vertical position, with less than an inch of wood for your foot to stand on. Its painful! My daughter jumps out of the bed because her feet hurt so bad using the steps. If the steps were horizontal it would be a perfect bed. Another thing is that since the bed is so low to the ground, we keep hitting our heads off the top bunk, so I cut a pool noodle and added it to the top bunk rail and now we bump our heads on soft noodle not wood. We like everything else about this sturdy, easy to assemble bed. The wood is also very pretty. And the top bunk is only 4 feet off the ground so its easy to change bed sheets. It is sturdy and looks beautiful
