These bunk beds are extremely squeaky. Our sons are 9 and 5 and they squeak with every move waking each other up. My husband is going to try and use washers to tighten up. The bottom bunk does allow enough room for an adult to sit up straight. They definitely are a little taller so be sure you have tall ceilings to allow room on top. The steps are also very uncomfortable to walk up. We used a pool noodle to help cause less pain. We considered sending back but did not want to go through the trouble of taking apart and shipping. Its fine.
