I was somewhat daunted when I opened the main box(it came in two, one for the bed, one for the base) It looked like a jumbo sized Jenga game! Turns out that it wasnt as complicated as it seemed. Once I got it laid out, it was pretty easy to assembleand the directions were mostly clear. It calls for 2 people to assemble but, I live alone and am isolating. I used my best redneck abilities and was able to do it myself. Im a 64 year old woman who is a bit overweight and arthritic. Im really impressed with the quality of the wood.
Helpful hint on converting from bed to couch, which isnt in the instuctions: Pull forward on the front of the seat about an inch, until you hear the click/thunk. Stand on one side, pull up on the top of the back while pushing down on the center until you hear a click/thunk. Repeat for the other side. That brings you to the semi-reclined position. If you want it in the total couch position, repeat the process.
I dont regret buying this but if I had to do it over, Id buy a metal one with the automatic latching feature.
