A very sturdy, comfortable, and nicely finished big and tall desk chair definitely worth considering.
I thought I had already reviewed this chair, but when I came back to update it, I discovered that I was wrong.
I am NOT a small person / Im over 6 tall and weigh a lot more than I should (used to be a competitive weight lifter and never stopped eating . sigh). So at 290lbs I give this chair a good workout.
Ive been using it for over 18 months now, and it is holding up beautifully. Yes you can tell that someone sits in it regularly / but then my work day (home office) is typically 07:00/19:00 or later, so thats reasonable. The cushions and frame are in essentially almost new condition, and it has given me no problems. Also it is comfortable enough that I dont find myself looking for other chairs on line .
PROs:
The height is very adjustable and its on the tall side. My desk has a top at about 34 and the chair matches it whether I want to set up tall OR let the chair down to slide it up under the desk on those rare occasions when Im awake and not sitting in it.
The gas cylinder is still working perfectly (Ive had them go out at any age from 9/months up, so Im pleased that it doesnt yet seem to slip at all).
The adjustments (height, tilt, lumbar support) are all easy to adjust and stay adjusted once set.
My wife actually likes the way it looks (when you have a shared home office, that can be an issue if your partner does NOT like it).
The casters (wheels) are very good quality and dont give me problems rolling across the computer room floor which as hardwood, floor protectors, and an oriental carpet with which to contend. (It doesnt like the 1/2 inch jump to get up onto the carpet, but I added a home/made ramp (a short wedge) which lets it get up onto the carpet if I back up far enough to go onto the capet.
The finish is holding up nicely.
CONs:
There arent many to be honest and theyre mostly nit/picking.
The lowest height adjustment may be too high for shorter desks (not a problem to me, but it might be for you).
(This one is just nit picking .) At this cost, I would like to have three features it doesnt have (but which I think it should).
There is no seat front/to/back adjustability. Other bigtall chairs have that feature and I loved it on my previous chair. AND .
The angle of the seat relative to the back is not adjustable. Again other bigtall chairs have that feature and I loved it on my previous chair.
OTOH that is my previous chair because the mechanism which connects the back to the seat failed. That might be connected to why such features are not available on this chair.
The third missing feature is the tilt of the back of the chair. When Im on a really pointless, never/ending a la Dilbert than the PHB meeting, I used to recline my old chairs back and relax for the duration of the pointless jabber. This chair doesnt tilt that far back and I miss the capability.
As I said above, this item is just nit/picking and probably wont apply to you.
I would definitely recommend this chair to anyone over 6 tall and/or over 250 lbs. My brother (65) finds it quite comforable and hes right at its weight limit / and the chair doesnt seem to mind (complain/fail/run screaming form the room) when he sits in it.
FWIW Id also buy it again. As I said, definitely recommended
