GREAT PRICING ON A BEUTIFUL, STURDY CONSOLE TABLE!
First of all, I want to say for this price point I really dont think that you can get anything better. I ordered this Console Table thinking it would be a great piece of furniture to use as a small desk in my already small living room. I am so happy I did. I placed my order and hoped I would be one of the recipients who received a perfect piece of furniture without any mars or damage. It came and I was so happy to find it packaged so well. They use a lot of foam and foam boards to keep the Console table safe. I live in Hawaii so I was extra nervous about the long journey to get it here. :) My console table was in perfect condition. It took me about 20-minutes to assemble. Very easy, mine did not have any bad odors or smells as some people stated in their reviews.
I am using mine as a little computer desk as I homeschool my daughters as well as work from home so the small size was appealing. I plan on purchasing a decorative, beautiful basket that is lidded to put on the lower shelf for all my work-related paperwork that I need to have handy.
I am 58 tall and the little tuffet I use (see picture) is a little on the low side, but I find if I put a pillow on top it is the perfect height for typing with proper posture.
The drawer is small but works great for any office supplies such as pens, pencils, paperclips, stapler note pads sticky notes. It does fit an 8 1/2 x 12 paper should you need to quickly put away a file or something you are working on. I live in a smaller house so I am always thinking of ways to keep things organized but keep a pretty, clean aesthetic :) This console table was a perfect size for my purposes. The profile of it fits wonderfully in our living room without taking up too much space. I wanted to leave a good review for anyone who is looking for a smaller, pretty desk.
Another thing that some people may wonder is if they could not install the lower shelf. I was considering not installing the lower shelf so that I could sit with my legs under the desk, but honestly, it has am perfectly comfortable with my antique stool and have plenty of foot/leg space so I decided to install the shelf and use it eventually to put a decorative, pretty lidded or hinged basket to house paperwork and files. But I do think it would be strong enough without the lower shelf. There would be the indents on the inner spindled legs that may look funny, but I believe you could do without installing the lower shelf and still have a sturdy enough table for computer work or a writing desk as long as you have a tall enough stool to sit on or tuffet or chair.
I really love the table. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the Driftwood finish was not rustic or I guess gray enough for my tastes and I noticed other reviewers felt the same way. It sort of reminds me of fake 1970s wood panel finishing. But I love the table and can live with the non-driftwood finish. Maybe in the future, I will lightly sand and put a coat of white-wash or gray-wash to make it the Driftwood finish that I was hoping for :). For now, it is fine and I am happy! Great table, great price, great functionality, and nice and sturdy! I am very happy with my new little slim profile work desk!
